by the Borg, their origin
seems to be a region filled
with organic fluid (fluidic
space), entered across an
interdimensional rift. They
are very fierce by nature
and their technology is
biogenetically engineered.
According to the Borg,
they are superior to any
other species encountered by them. Species 8472 have the
ability to copy humanoid DNA and morph into the hosts body.
They have 5 sexes with different mating rituals for each
combination. The only known weapon against them are borg "nanoprobes"
reprogrammed by the EMH on Voyager. These were
encased in the ship's photon torpedoes and used successfully against the
aliens' bio ships.
