A BRIEFING WITH NEELIX

FURY Looking back, it seems as if none of this episode should have really happened. Kes never had any reason to go back in time to cause trouble in the first place and it just seemed like she was too much out of character (but maybe that was the point?). However I enjoyed Jennifer Lien's return incredibly. It was nice to have such a great actress and character (even though I didn't like most of her character in this episode) back in action. The Vidiian scenes were also very cool. Some people may say the Borg, Species 8472 or Hirogen but I think that the Vidiians were the best villians on VOYAGER. They seemed like real people who have been able to succeed in everything but what they need to succeed in and have been reduced to a form of life that they really don't want to be involved in. However we know now that the Phage was cured so I can get off my soapbox now. The scene with the Vidiian ship hooking onto Voyager and Voyager pulling away was fantastic. All in all a mostly disapointing plot but a wonderful performance by Lien made the episode.

LIFE LINE
This is probably one of my favorite episodes of the season. I think that fans would have either loved or hated this episode. The special effects and directing in this episode were great. Performances by Picardo in a dual role were also well done. I really enjoyed the character of Hailey (sp?). It did seem though that Schult's and Sirtis's roles weren't needed as much as they were used. Don't get me wrong it was great having them back but it just seemed that their scenes dragged on a little longer than what was needed. One thing that bugged me though was that the Dr. Zimmerman that we met here was an entirely different character than who we first met on Deep Space 9. You could blame it on his illness but he just didn't seem to have much if any resemblance in character we met 3 years ago. Another thing, Zimmerman said he hasn't been off of Jupitor station in 4 years but he was on DS9 3 years ago. Anyway, it was a very well done episode that dragged on a bit in a few scenes but came out really satisfying.
