Go back to the main page of my journal
Today is Monday and I didn't want to get out of my bed to go to camp. I hate camp! I got the butterflies in my stomach. I didn't have a big appetite so I had no breakfast. When I got on my bus later in the morning, the two girls named Anya and Karen were being really noisy and kept looking backwards so I told them to shut up but they wouldn't. Then the rest of the bus ride was misery for me.
Then I got off my bus to the camp. I walked to the pool where everyone was already. Ever since we got the new girl on our bus we're always late to camp. Then I saw Sarah, my friend and we started swimming together. I forgot my band but at least none of the lifeguards saw me in the deep end. But the deep end in the pool isn't that deep. it's just 4 feet deep. But I don't blame the camp. They don't want anyone to sink or anything. Then we had to go so I said bye to Sarah because she is in another group.
I started to walk to where we had our snacks. i spotted a girl who I never saw in our group before. i asked her if this was her first year here. She said no. This was her second year here and she told me her name was Kim. I told her mine was Shirley. Soon we started having a long conversation and we became friends. We both said the castle/boat thing at the camp was really retarded. It was for little kids to play in, not kids our age. but somehow all the kids in our group like it. Weird!
Then we played Dodgeball. It was really boring. Everytime Kim had the ball come to her, it would bounce off her hands. Once I hit a person and they got out. But I didn't go in the circle because this was a different kind of dodgeball. After that we had our swimming lessons. I was exasted after I did 6 laps of free style. Everyone else in the group could do 15 laps. I stink at free style and she expects me to do that much? Then I was glad we were going to do breast stroke. I love the froggie stroke! I could do it forever and never get tired. Okay soon the swimming lessons were over. I was happy! Then we had to play some sport but I forgot what we did! Soon we had lunch and I was very bored. I taught Kim had to play Frustration in cards. I always win everyone who plays that with me!
Then we got our new schedules for the afternoon. Eew! i had the worst schedule. I had cheerleading (yuck), pottery (yea!) and stupid archery. I didn't want to do archery. I did want to do cheerleading but not anymore. I just signed up for that to be with my friend. But, oh well I'll have to live with it. When we did cheerleading I just watched because I didn't want to do anything. Then I made a really pretty cup in pottery. Then I did stupid archery! I never hit the target once and plus we had to do it in the burning sun and it made me sweat!
Then I was glad when I got on the bus. But my friend, Ashley had an icepack to her face. I asked her what was wrong with her. She pointed to her elbow to her mouth. "Someone elbowed you to the face?" I asked. Yes. She answered. Then she used sign language to tell me that she couldn't talk because it hurt. Anya the annoying girl kept asking why she wouldn't talk. I had to tell her a million times before she'd remember. What an idiot. Then Ashley took out a sweet tart and gave me one. I had one. Anya and Karen wanted one but Ashley wouldn't give them to her because she didn't have enough left. But Karen and Anya begged and begged for more, so i told them if they were quiet and looked forward Ashley would give them a sweet tart when she went off the bus. So they did what I told them. Ashley gave me the thumbs up sign. Of course what I was saying wasn't true! When it was time for Ashley to go.. I told Anya and Karen to close their eyes and they'd get something in their hands. They closed their eyes and Ashley gave them her ice pack.
Anya and Karen were very surprised and angry! They were very
mad and told me that I had said that they would get the sweet tarts if they
were quiet and looked straight ahead. But then I told them that I said MAYBE!
Then they kept annoying me and annoying me about the subject. Finally I said
that if they would shut up and look straight ahead I'd give them candy. I told
my busdriver that if she heard either Karen or Anya speak or turn around, she'd
report that to me and they wouldn't get their candy. They totally listened to
me and when I was to get off I told them the only time they could speak was to
say bye to me. They were happy about that and said ," Goodbye shirley!" Then
that was my whole great day today.
So long!
Shirley
P.S. This is Shirley and it's October 12,1998. Let me just tell you at the
end of camp I hated Ashley. She turned into a real snob and she's bossy. She's
a segmented idiot!
