My bassist/mechanic friend, Tim, and his baby--a '71 Pontiac T-37. To see her before she was finished, click here. Tim's been working on this car for years. The engine's a 468 (454 bored 30 over) with TRW forged pistons and an Edelbrock cam. It runs the quarter mile in about 12 seconds.

The evening culminates in the firing of the jet cars, which are basically very light pieces of car slapped around the engine from a retired military jet. They do about 300mph and all have a little plaque with a biblical saying about death on the dashboard. Here they're firing them up on the starting line. Note; You DON'T want to be standing anywhere behind these things when they go off (like when I took the following picture.) They shoot back a 40' flame, blasting you with road crud and burnt rubber at about 500,000psi.
