Vans Warped Tour '98, Montreal

MXPX was the first band of the day. They put on a pretty good show, and played a bunch of good songs. I was excited to hear 'Punk Rock Show', 'Middlename'and 'Chick Magnet'. They even did a cover of Brian Adams' 'Summer of '69'. The band was fairly energetic and seemed like they were glad to be playing at the show.

LESS THAN JAKE was the 2nd band that I saw. These guys know how to put on a show! They played an awesome set with songs from all their various albums and were so energetic. They had two clowns that were running around the stage through out the show and one of them did a stage dive off the 30 foot pa system! (I got a good snapshot of this, it's on the front page). This was one of the best sets of the day

CHERRY POPPIN'DADDIES were the 3rd act that I saw. They were mello (no surprise there), but did play a lot of Ska. I didn't even know that they were a Ska band too. This surprised me a bunch. Half the set was Ska. The set was good for me because it gave me time to catch my breath from all the moshing. I would have to say that these guys were the biggest surprise of the day and that they played better than I had expected.

THE AQUABATS were the next band I saw. Talk about a bunch of fucking crack addicts! These guys are strange. For those that of you who don't know who they are, well, they dress up as super heros and have matching costumes and instruments. They have a mascot that is a chicken and their arch enemy is a mad scientist. Good entertainment!

RANCID was the next band that I encountered. What a set!! This was the band that I most wanted to see during the whole day. They weren't as intense as I had hoped, but nevertheless they kicked major ass. They played such songs as: 'Time Bomb', 'Avenues & Alleyways', 'Ruby Soho','Radio','Old Friend', so many more awesome songs. The set made up for their lack of intensity.

NOFX was the 6th band that I saw. These guys are really funny. They always seem to enjoy themselves on stage. They played a great set which included 'Moron Bros', and 'Together on the Sand'. It was great to see these guys, cause I'm sure I won't see them again.

THE SPECIALS were the 7th band that I saw. They were full of cool Ska vibes and energy. They played a lot of old tunes and a few new ones such as 'It's You' and more. They seemed to be one of the loudest bands of the day. This really surprised me.

BAD RELIGION was the last band of the day. They proved to me why they are one of the best Punk bands in all of the land. They were the most intense band of the day, they played the 2nd best set (in my opinion), and Greg Graffin totally harassed the vocals. He is a mad man on stage. I had the chance to get his autograph earlier in the day too, which was cool. They played: '21 Century Digital Boy','Fuck Armegedden This is Hell', 'Recipe For Hate', and 'American Jesus', just to name a few. This was a great end to a great day!

All in all the show was awesome! You can't ask for a better time. There was so many bands and things to do, it was so much fun. I managed to also catch parts of different sets from bands like: Dropkick Murphys, Voodoo Glow Sculls, Save Ferris, and the Deftones.
