Oooh...
Back to our PERSONAL FANFICTION
Amber yawned and glanced at her watch, wondering how long Phil would take when she heard a loud rap at the door. Amber rose to her feet and treked to the door, trying to make out the figure through the translucent window, when it flew open nearly hitting her face. She stepped backward before recollecting herself.
"Oh jeez, Amber, I'm sorry." Wild Wing smiled apologetically, lingering outside of the office. "I didn't know you were having a meeting with Phil."
"I wasn't. He's been out for lunch for awhile; I just wanted to claim my paycheck."
"Duley noted. Mind if I join you? I need to collect about a month's work so I can help finance the Camero." Wild Wing grinned good naturedly and Amber tipped her head down, coyly accepting. Wild Wing stepped in Phil's office and shoved his large hands in his leather jacket's pockets. Amber closed her eyes momentarily and smelled the aroma of his cologne mixed with the dark leather: it was a pleasant feel of a hardworking man. "Is that sterling?" Wild Wing asked abruptly.
"Sorry?"
"Your necklace." Wild Wing extended a hand to Amber's collarbone and rubbed the narrow chain between his thumb and index finger. Amber felt her heartbeat dramatically slow. Wild Wing watched Amber's bare shoulders rise and fall from the straps of her white tanktop with her breath. Wild Wing took his hand off of the chain and rubbed his beak with it. "Yeah, I guess it's sterling."
"I guess," Amber said distantly. She smoothed the bottom of her tanktop over her jeans. "Don't you get hot wearing a jacket in this weather?"
"Outside, yes. With air conditioning strong as Phil's? Never. I'm amazed you aren't chilly in here!" Amber quickly cast a look down at her chest and then blushed, not looking in Wild Wing's eyes. Wild Wing took a deep breath and blinked, wishing he said something, anything, different than what poured out of his mouth. "So, I guess Phil's out on a date or something?" Wild Wing pondered, trying to change the subject.
"He's lucky if he was. I haven't gone out on a date in so long I forgot what it's like," Amber said half-jokingly. Wild Wing looked at his shoes, knowing his only chance to express his emotions had come. Mallory moved on, he always liked Amber, so why shouldn't he atleast find out that he'd be rejected?
"Well, you know, if you're ever interested we could maybe go out to dinner or a movie..." Wild Wing's voice softened. He shifted his weight from foot to foot uncomfortably. Amber cocked her head to the side and ran fingers through her limp, brown hair.
"You're asking me to go out on a date with you tonight?" Amber asked. Wild Wing nodded his head and rubbed a hand over his beak, preparing for her answer. "Why not now?" Wild Wing looked at Amber and smiled. He tenderly put his hands on both sides of her face and pulled her lips against his. Amber relaxed and fumbled behind her to the deadbolt on the door. After Wild Wing heard the click, he shover her into the door and groaned in pleasure. Amber moaned as she rest her hand against the door for support as he kissed her neck, running one hand through her hair and leaning against the door with the other. With insistance, Amber pulled Wild Wing's jacket off and they stumbled across the room, over the desk knocking all of Phil's papers on the ground, and to the copy machine. Wild Wing grabbed Amber's ass and lifted her up onto the copy machine. She wrapped her legs around his back and he took one hand away to toy with her belt, then fingertip up the back of her tanktop.
"I'm honored you'll grace up with your presence, Captain," Phil flattered, leading the way with a carton of Dunkin Donuts. Klegghorn grunted and followed, drinking his coffee. He yawned as Phil came to a stop at his door. "Musta' locked it before I left," Phil chirped, as he fumbled in his Armani sports jacket for his keys. He flipped each key around the holder until he came to a small copper key. "And here we go," Phil said, swinging the door out. The two walked in and gasped. "Oh my God, what are you doing?!" Phil squeled as Amber and Wild Wing broke mouth contact to stare horrified at their intruders; not only were Wild Wing's hands on Amber's ass and up the back of her shirt, but her hands were inside the back pockets of her jeans--black marks were apparent on both of their necks and collar bones.
"Klegghorn, what a plesant surprise," Wild Wing said, pulling away from Amber. He reached to the floor and swooped his jacket off of the floor before he put it on. "We were waiting for Phil to write our paychecks-"
"Here!" Phil exclaimed, tearing the typed checks out of his checkbook and handing it to them. "And do I have a deal for you two! Have you guys ever thought about posing for Penthouse?"
"Phil," Wild Wing hissed, turning crimson red. Amber looked at her check briefly and tipped her head at Klegghorn.
"Uh, gotta go... sale at Guitar Center! Gotta get a new...uh... bass! That's it!" Amber ran out of the room. Wild Wing lifted a foot to stride out with Amber, but Klegghorn blocked his path.
"Just a second, Wild Wing."
"Uh, I'm uh... going to Guitar Center so I can get a new ummm... amp?"
"You didn't look like you were in a hurry a minute ago," Klegghorn tested. Wild Wing filled his lungs with the suffocating, airconditioned aroma. Klegghorn studied Wild Wing's unusual awkward and boyish stance. "How old are you?"
"Nineteen... well, almost twenty." Klegghorn stroked his chin, amazed that the team would even consider someone so young as their leader.
"I'm not going to give you too much grief, but if I were you I'd make sure she's within four years of your age."
"What?! That's absurd that she'd be younger!"
"I'm just warning you, Wild Wing. Things aren't always what they seem." Wild Wing narrowed his eyes and tugged on his jacket.
"If you'll excuse me, I'll be leaving." Wild Wing shoved his way out of the room, carefully closing the door behind him. He looked around the empty lobby and walked to the gift store. He walked there and looked at the rows of jerseys and hats before he rest his head against the hard glass and watched the window fog with his breath.
"Wild Wing?" Wild Wing turned around to face Mallory, Grin, Tanya, and Steve--Mallory's new boyfriend. Wild Wing felt his stomach turn over as he gave them a flaky smile, a smile they would take as good natured rather than loathing.
"Hey guys. Steve, how you doing?" Wild Wing asked, extending his hand.
"Not bad, Wing. Seems you've been having an incredible series: four shutouts in a row!" Wild Wing put his hand back in his pocket, controlling his urge to strangle the last smile out of Steve.
"What scheme was Phil getting us involved in?" Mallory asked, rubbing the back of her ankle with the heal of her sundress. "Sounded like WW III in there," she said, jerking her head toward Phil's office.
"Yeah, dah, we were uh almost gonna come in and uh see what was wrong," Tanya added.
"False alarm," Wild Wing said, ignoring Grin's cool stare.
"Well alright. In that case we'd better get going so we wont be late for practice."
"Great seeing you again, Wild Wing."
"My pleasure." Wild Wing felt his face grit in order to keep that smile focused on Steve.
"Hey, why don't you join us for dancing and dinner later tonight?" Steve inquired.
'And kill myself?' Wild Wing thought. "Uh, I'll get back to you later." Tanya, Steve, and Mallory walked out of the lobby doors, but Grin stayed.
"Excuse me for interfering, but something's bothering you..."
"I hate seeing Mallory with such a nice guy 'cause I feel like shit for hating him," Wild Wing confessed.
"Come on, Wing... something else."
"You'd better go before Tanya wonders why you've been gone for so long," Wild Wing said cooly. Grin sighed and opened the lobby doors. Before he let them close, he looked back at Wild Wing.
"Maybe you should wear a turtleneck, or get over Mallory." Wild Wing stared at the door after it closed. After ten minutes, he walked through the base to the lockerroom. Typing in a few codes, the doors to the secret elevator opened and Wild Wing stepped in. He pressed a button for the third floor. Once out, he went into his room and looked at the mirror. He tenderly touched the three marks on his neck before pulling out a cover-up bottle Mallory gave him; Mallory gave it to him insisting he use it because it was rude to let other people know your sex life. Wild Wing nodded his head, appreciating her tip: he couldn't risk offending her.
At hockey practice, Wild Wing barely noticed that he blocked every shot. Mara whistled, admiringly.
"Wing, you're on fire! You've really become an automaton."
"Thanks," he said monotonly, blocking one of Nose Dive's shots. "Try more angle next time, Dive," he sugested, passing the puck back to his brother. Nose Dive, however, spun 360degrees and shot again. Wild Wing dove in the right corner, barely missing the save.
"You were saying?" Nose Dive teased. Wild Wing chuckled.
"Pretty impressive, baby bro. Where'd you learn it?"
"From the art of skateboarding!" Nose Dive said proudly.
"Well, on that note, let's conclude our practice. Dive, how'd you like to shoot pool this evening?" Wild Wing put an arm around his brother's shoulders. Nose Dive bit his lip and squirmed away.
"Uh, you know how I'd normally love to but, I was um wondering about going to a show tonight."
"A...show?"
"Mookie got tickets for Marilyn Manson and well was gonna have me meet some chick. Is it cool if I go?"
"Uh, sure," Wild Wing said quietly. "Just don't come home dressed like him if you can help it." Wild Wing gave Nose Dive the same phony smile. Nose Dive grinned and dashed off the ice. "And no drinking, smoking, or illegal substances... and illegal substances includes weed!" Wild Wing called after his carefree brother.
"So you'll be free to join us this evening?" Grin asked.
"Uh..."
"Don't do this to me, Wing. You haven't said a word to Amber all practice."
"It wasn't nesisary," Wild Wing protested weakly.
"I thought you could talk to me, Wing. You cant pretend there's no connection between you and her. What do you have to lose?" Grin demanded.
"I dunno. She's a great girl, but I don't know."
"Is there some reason you like being alone?"
"I try to deal with loneliness since I'll be lonely my whole life," Wild Wing said, slumping his shoulders.
"I think you should stop being afraid, Wild Wing," Grin said, patting Wild Wing on the shoulder. Wild Wind sighed and nodded his head, walking to the communal lockerroom where the ducks stored their excess gear. Amber was sitting on a bench, untyping her skates. Wild Wing sat a foot away from her, facing the other direction, and he took his mitt off. Amber looked at him before untying her other skate. Wild Wing looked at her before pulling his knee pads off.
"Wing?" She finally asked. Wild Wing looked into her pale yellow eyes. "Does this mean our date's off?" Wild Wing shook his head and pulled his skates off. He shoved his equiptment into his locker and took Amber's hand, pulling her in the lockerroom for the ducks' opponents.
"I have the only key," Wild Wing murmered as he locked the door behind them. Amber jumped into his arms. He kissed her, kissing a rise as she lay back on one of the benches, pulling him ontop of her. He pulled his wifebeater off and let Amber trace his six pack before she pulled her teeshirt off. "I want you so bad," he said as he cupped his hands over her black sports bra. Amber panted and rubbed her calf over Wild Wing's broad back.
"Babe," Steve asked. Mallory raised an eyebrow as she put a key in the lock to the lockerroom. "You sure it's safe?"
"I'm positive. No one uses this except the visiting team at home games."
"But it's not romantic," Steve whined. "I thought we'd make love under the stars."
"Think of the good side, we wont be bothered. Wild Wing's the only one beside me with a key and what would he be doing here. He'd never date a girl," Mallory said loudly as she pulled Steve in behind her.
Amber and Wild Wing grabbed their stuff and ran behind a set of lockers as the door swung open, getting dresed. Peering around the corner of the lockers, Wild Wing gasped.
"I totally forgot Mal had a key!"
"Fuck me," Amber groaned. They crept behind the lockers, being careful not to be spotted before Amber noticed a vent. She cautiously pried it open and they slid through it... and fell into the swimming pool. Amber gasped for air as she came to surface. "When the fuck did we get a swimming pool?"
"For the off-season... I had forgotten to show it to you and Mara I guess," Wild Wing said, swiming to the edge. Amber followed him and they pulled themselves out of the water. "Would you still be interested in dinner and dancing?" Wild Wing asked shyly. Amber looked at Wild Wing before laughing.
"Sure... trust me, this doesn't change the way I feel about you." Wild Wing smiled at her and rubbed his hands against the sides of her body.
"Does that change the way you feel about me?"
"Don't tease me," she scolded gently. Wild Wing smiled and held up his hands.
"Alright, alright, you win. How about I pick you up around 6?"
"Sounds great," Amber agreed. Wild Wing held open the door for her but as she walked out, he closed it and retreated back to the side of the pool. He looked into the water and dipped his fingers in. Something wasn't right. He had liked Amber for a long time, but bringing her along to dinner with Mallory and whats-his-face? Shrugging his shoulders, he stood up and walked out the door.
Mallory smiled at Steve as she sipped her Martini. He had an arm around her shoulder, right over the spagetti strap of her tight, red dress. Tanya sat to her side, dressed equally nice in a purple halter top and black skirt.
"Looks like Wing couldn't make it," Mallory said with a smile. "Pity he never goes out to have fun."
"Well, I'm sure he has fun in his own ways," Steve replied, cooing softly to her. Grin rolled his eyes and took Tanya's hand in his to give it a kiss.
"Just wanted to say I love you," Grin said softly. Tanya kissed his cheek and squeezed his hand. She opened up her mouth to speak when something caught her eye.
"Wild Wing... he's here!"
"What? Where?" Mallory asked shocked. Wild Wing strode through the crowds and waved his hand. He wore a leather jacket over a dress suit and tie, and he had black dress pants to match. Once he got to the table he flashed a smile.
"Hey guys, sorry I'm late."
"No problem... none at all." Steve answered.
"Hey, I was wondering... mind if I brought anyone?" The ducks smiled and nodded their heads. Wild Wing tipped his head then turned around, motioning for someone to come. Mallory strained to see who the new "human" was and immediately her heart slowed.
"Amber?" she asked, shocked. Amber bit her lip unsurely as she walked toward the table wearing a simple, short black dress and her hair was loose for a change. She opened her mouth to speak but shut it quickly for fear of saying something that she would regret.
"Pleasure you could join us, Amber," Steve said charmingly. Wild Wing pulled out a chair and Amber looked blankly at it before blushing and taking her seat. Mallory shot her an incredulous glance so Amber kept her eyes focused on her hands which were folded neatly in her lap; she had never learned self-etiquette and Chase's Place wasn't the exactly the fancy place to learn it at.
"So, that's nice of you to accompany Wild Wing, Amber," Mallory said testingly, looking directly at Wild Wing. "It's great that you get to take him out."
"Hopefully more than once," Wild Wing said calmly, pulling his menu up in front of his face. Mallory looked at Tanya before looking at Steve.
"Mind if we order? I'm a bit tired."
"No, right away my dear." He snapped his fingers and immediately the ducks ordered and were served. Amber didn't say a word the entire time and avoided eye contact. As the ducks stood up to leave, Wild Wing, Grin, and Steve went ahead to get their cars. Mallory and Tanya turned to Amber.
"I don't believe you!" Mallory exclaimed. "What are you trying to do? Claim him as yours?!"
"It was just a date... I haven't gone on one in awhile," Amber said quietly.
"So you're only dating him just to date someone?" Tanya shot.
"I'm attracted to him."
"Amber, I thought you'd understand how I've felt about him since forever," Mallory said angerily. Amber glared at Mallory with her cold yellow eyes.
"You take everything for granted, Princess," she hissed. "He's asked you out how many times and you keep denying him plus you invite him out to rub his nose in the fact that you're with someone else and you're calling me a bitch?"
"No, I'm calling you an ungrateful wench," Mallory yelled, equally heated.
"You..." Amber body shook as she tried to contain her anger.
"Well, looks like our rides are waiting... bye Amber," Tanya chimed, trying to slightly soothe Mallory's antics.
"I hope he dumps you in the harshest way," Mallory hissed as she left with Tanya. Amber walked up behind Mallory and tapped her on the shoulder. As Mallory turned around, Amber slapped her with her right hand--her artificial hand. Mallory cried out in pain right as Steve, Grin, and Wild Wing walked in.
"She hit me!" Mallory cried, "The little slut hit me!" Amber looked at Wild Wing and opened her mouth but she couldn't formulate her reason. Wild Wing sighed and offered to take Mallory back to the infirmary in exchange for Steve and Grin to take Tanya and Amber home. Amber sighed miserably as she got in the car with the other three knowing that this was the beginning of the worst night of her life.
"Amber," Grin started calmly, "You know never to attack in anger."
"There's no need to get into a fight," Steve agreed. Amber rolled her eyes and looked out of the window, watching the random passer-bys on the street. She sighed unhappily and rest her head against the cold glass; it was just supposed to be one date, nothing too serious... and she hadn't dated anyone since Jake. Feeling nauteous, Amber closed her eyes and subconsciously traced the silver chain around her neck. He'd be furious with her if he knew, but Jake had been missing for almost three years now and there was still no trace. Amber held onto her chain for her commitment and a prayer that all hope wasn't lost.
"Why him?" Tanya asked bringing Amber back to her senses. "Why?"
"He's nice to me," Amber said coldly, keeping her back to Tanya.
"So treatment of other's is the only important factor? He's team captain; he has responsibilities."
"And he also has a life, which it seems like you and your friend keep forgetting." Amber hit her head against the glass as Steve hit a speed bump. She cursed and rubbed her forehead with her left hand, anxious to get out once they reached the parking lot. As soon as Steve slowed down, she pulled open the door and leapt out onto the hot asfault. She winced as she tripped slightly in her skirt but shrugged it off as she ran to the main base. She didn't notice footsteps behind her until a rough hand clamped over her shoulder.
"Hey-" she started to yell but was silenced by Grin's look.
"Amber, I want you to know that this doesn't change the way I feel about you."
"Great, so you hate me the same as you always did," Amber spat, trying to pull away.
"No. I don't hate you. And I think Mallory and Tanya are acting childish." Amber paused and cocked her head as she looked up at Wild Wing. "Wild Wing is one of my best friends, and it is his right to date whoever he wants. Mallory's been jerking him around on a stick for months and it's time that he moves on and has fun. As for you, they're just jealous."
"Why would anyone be jealous of me?" Amber asked glumly. Grin smiled at her.
"Who wouldn't be?"
"But I'm so ugly, and I'm mean," Amber said darkly.
"Ugly is only skin deep, and you aren't as ugly as you think you are. I see a sensitive caring girl in you, but you just don't like to let her out."
"How could I?"
"Well, that's up for you to decide. Good night, Amber." Grin leaned down and kissed her lightly on the cheek. "Just ignore those two and you'll be perfectly happy." Amber nodded her head as Grin left to return to the others. Amber hesistated before walking through the parkinglot to the elevator. She clicked the button for the third floor and waited patiently before she stepped out. She looked at the door to her room and sighed before turning around and knocking on the door across from hers...
"Yeah?" Wild Wing said as he opened the door. "Oh, Amber," he said with a startled smile. "Didn't expect to see you around."
"Well, surprise." Amber struggled to get a smile on her face. "I wanted to apologize for before. I need to control my temper a bit better."
"Eh, it's alright Amber. I should have known better than to go there with Steve... I mean them." Wild Wing quickly corrected himself.
"So, mind if I come in?"
"Sure, I'd love it."
"Wasn't sure if it was Team Captain quota," Amber dug slyly as she walked in. Wild Wing shook his head as he closed the door and locked it behind her.
"Saurians aren't attacking so I'm off-duty." Wild Wing approached Amber and slid his hands around her narrow waist. "Which is a good thing because I've been waiting for a long time to be alone with you."
"We only started dating today," Amber said startled. Wild Wing pulled his hands back and looked at the ground.
"I'm sorry... I'm moving to fast aren't I? It's just that I haven't had a girl in so long..."
"Wing, it's fine." Amber rubbed her hands together. "People make too big a deal of it. It's natural."
"So you're saying you might be interested?" Wild Wing tested, unbuttoning his dress shirt.
"I'm saying I'm game." Amber turned to walk to the bed but Wild Wing already had his arms around her, kissing her face, neck, mouth. She accepted and allowed him to push her toward the bed, pulling both his and her shirts off. He ran a finger down her body and kissed her as he pulled himself ontop of her, unzipping her short skirt. Once it was undone, he pulled it off and began to kiss down her body until Amber brought him to his senses.
"What are you doing?" She asked. Wild Wing looked up at her, unhooking his fingers from the sides of her thong.
"I uh, I'm moving too fast aren't I?" Wild Wing decided embarassed.
"No, no I mean what are you doing?" Amber looked at him with some urgency. Wild Wing shook his head as he sat upright.
"You... you're joking, right?" Amber shook her head intently. "Amber, I thought you weren't a virgin," he said with a sigh.
"I'm not." Amber looked at Wild Wing with mild annoyance.
"Didn't you ever have fore play?" Wild Wing asked again with bewilderment. Amber shook her head and Wild Wing chuckled. "You mean no one's ever done down on you?"
"Go down?" Amber asked confused. "Can't only a girl do that to a guy?"
"I don't believe this. He never gave you anything." Wild Wing put a hand on Amber's cheek. "Amber, I'm going to give you something that you'll never forget. Just try to close your eyes and relax."
Amber's legs trembled the whole time but once it was over she lay wrapped in Wild Wing's broad arms. He nuzzled her neck and squeezed her tightly, thankful that for once in his life he could play off emotions and not be a captain, but be carefree the way he was before the Saurian Wars, before Canard made him leader. Letting out a sigh, he stroked Amber's narrow back. It had been awhile since he'd had some, and Amber's confirmation didn't nearly match Mallory's perfect figure but she was amazing... something different. Clearly the two had a brawl when he wasn't there but he couldn't help but dream of the two of them together with him.
Closing his eyes for the final time, he decided that Amber was a good rebound to start over again...
To start out on a new wing...
To be the one in control and lead someone along the way...
Wild Wing groaned and pressed his body against Amber's trying to rid his thoughts. He knew he was using her in a way. Sure, he was always attracted but he loved Mallory... and he could never deny that attraction to anyone. He felt guilty laying by Amber's side although Mallory was probably laying next to another species at the same time. Amber was naive underneath her guarded nature and Wild Wing had broken through the thick layer... wasn't that enough? he thought. Biting his lip, he roughly pulled Amber ontop of him and into a deep kiss. Amber's yellow eyes flickered with a keen delight. Wild Wing nodded his head firmly as he kissed her again... he was going on the path he was advised against. He would get over Mallory one way or another.
He had decided.
