Our Gold Medaltists!
From left to right: Tyrel Dechant (gold), Jeremy Gummesen (gold), and Ethan Hunter (gold).

Ethan Hunter

There were 4 boys in Ethan's age/weight class. He fought Matthew Scott from Red Deer on Saturday Nov.11. The fight was stopped in the second round due to Ethan dominating his opponent.

Ethan's second fight was against Sebastian ?? from Bowmont Boxing club in Calgary. This fight went all three rounds. Ethan won a unanimous decision. He competly dominated this fight as well. Well done Ethan!

Tyrel Dechant

Tyrel actually lost his first fight to a very strong boxer Trevor Jackon from Avenue boxing club in Edmonton. Tyrel took some killer blows but kept coming. He did very well against this much more experienced strong boxer for his first fight.

On the Sunday, Nov.12, Tyrel bumped up fought a little bit younger but heavier boy named Teo Asterisk from Slave Lake. Because this was in a different weight division there was still a medal on the line. Tyrel won this fight overpowering his opponent and forcing the referee to stop the fight in the third round. Tyrel got his gold medal for this fight. Overall he came out of this tournament with 2 fights under his belt and some well needed ring experience.

Jeremy Gummesen

Jeremy weighed in on the Saturday and did not get a fight in his weight division. On Sunday, we had him gain some weight and he bumped up to fight a heavier opponent, Sherman Chneung from Saskatoon, who was also a little older and a southpaw. This was Jeremy's first compeition bout and it was a battle. It was a very close fight. But in the end, Jeremy won by split decision. Congrats Jeremy on your gold medal win!

Tyler Dillman

Tyler Dillman fought on the Saturday against Paul Lewis from Bowmont Boxing Club in Calgary. This was also a battle of a fight. It was very close. Tyler actually won the first round but then ran out of gas in the 2nd and 3rd rounds. Both of these boys fought their hearts out and the decision went to Paul from Calgary. I am very proud of Tyler, this fight could have went either way!
