Review on 106.5, the new kwod sacramento, california.

The first request was for me to review a huge change made to a local radio station, Sacramento's 106.5, kwod. This station has been a very popular rock based station for a long time now, and recently, took on some huge changes. they limited the commercials way down, theres almost no talking happening at all, just song after song after song being thrown down straight at ya. Now here's the good part: the songs aren't a common playlist radio stations put on to be "safe". they play whatever they feel like, whenever they feel like, based on whatever any listener wants. they play 70s rock, 80s, 90s, punk, ska, whatever they feel like playin comes on. even if it isn't mainstream. now as for what I think...this is a very good change for the listeners. I have heard countless songs that have made me smile, as I have only heard them on my cds or from a friend, and I was quite frankly tired of that. The only bad thing I see is that I believe they fired their dj's, who gave me some good feelings sometimes. for the most part, this change was really good, in my opinion. I believe they will get many more listeners for doing this, and a much wider variety. (so it won't just be a bunch of punk kids listening to the station, some of the old guys will get in a word or two as well.) this ones a toughie, so I have to rate it in a few different sections. the first, being quality for the listeners...I think it's a great improvement, and I will give it an 8.5 as a current standing. as for the moralistic part of it, I think some workers there might have been screwed over, so I have to give that a 6.0. I think overall, this will put it at about a 7.8. overall rating: 7.8 ~Armand
