League of Extraordinary Gentleman

Despite being older than 75% of the earth's dirt, Sean Connery continues to make action films, and this summer, he's pulled the mothballs off his comic book collection and found the League of Extraordinary Gentleman. I've never been one for comic books, so naturally, I'd never heard of this one. Connery plays Allan Quartermain, a retired hunter or something like that, I wasn't paying attention in the beginning. He's been summoned to join a "league" to stop a menace called "The Phantom". This is all good in theory, but again, never been a fan of comic books or literature in general for that matter, so how would I know what each character is capable of? Good question, and thankfully, each character was given their chance to show off their talents one by one. What about the eye candy? Well this movie has Peta Wilson....I'm not a fan of the organization, or the food, or even this broad. Hey Miss Wilson, talent called and left a message. Apparently you told talent to fuck off a while back and now, when you need it, it's no where to be found. While the movie provided ample character development, it was lacking in a few areas, not the least of which was plot. Dry English humor doesn't do it for me, nor does ye olde English, so on that note, LXG falls short. While providing mild entertainment, and Sean Connery finally proving he's actually an android for the beatings he takes, I'm forced to give this movie a 3/10 and recommend it only if your first 2 choices are sold out/already started.
