Lara Croft Tomb Raider: The Cradle of Life

Now, who here saw the first Lara Croft Tomb Raider movie? Okay, that was dissapointing, but not surprising. It moved at a snail's pace and was very confusing. But, Angelina Jolie was in it, and that nearly made it worthwhile. How about fans of the video game? Wow, that was overwhelming. Except you didn't like the new one? I'm not surprised.
Now, I walked into this one with a couple of different reviews in my head. One gave it a favorable rating, and the other did not. Now, I kind of liked the first. It had its moments, and entertained me. I wanted to see this one since it opened, just for curiousity's sake. So, I decided to see it, spur of the moment, and nearly missed the opening.
Most of the movie was satisfying. There were a few questionable parts, but it was a standard action movie. Lots of chases and escapes, and a few elaboratly done stunts that looked incredible. The only really questionable part, where you'll have to completely suspend all disbelief, is the end when they're close to the Cradle of Life and Pandora's Box. Some strange creatures, which look sort of like the talking trees from the Two Towers, start picking off the poor chinese mercenaries. We thought it was the crazy baboons, but no, it was the crazy tree people. I guess one shouldn't piss of the tree people. That would be counterproductive to living. I suppose that's what I learned form this movie.
Seriously, folks, don't listen to all the bad press surrounding this movie. Shan probably is slamming it right now (we saw it together, and he was ready to fall asleep) but I enjoyed this movie. The pacing was a little awkward, and some of the effects looked cheesy, but it entertained me. And Angelina Jolie is actually worth watching. So, against the better judgement of the majority of the critics out there, I'm giving this one a 7 out of 10. Like I've said, if you don't like it, tell me. If you like it, tell a friend.
