Dr. Layla Nimah
Vice President for Student Affairs
Dr. Layla Nimah was appointed Academic Dean, Beirut in
fall 1993 and Vice President for Student Affairs in the fall of 1995. Dr.
Nimah served with LAU as Associate Professor of Physics from 1978-1983 as
a full-timer and from 1983-1990 as a part time lecturer at both LAU and
AUB. During this period, she served as Principal of St. Mary’s Orthodox
College in Beirut. She also served on various councils and committees at
LAU and in the community.
Dr. Nimah was a visiting Professor of Physics at
Utah State University (1990-1992) before she was appointed Assistant Dean
and Associate Professor of Physics in October 1992 and then Dean in 1993.
She holds BS “Licenses en Mathematiques” from the Lebanese University, DEA
“Diplomes d’Etudes Approfondies en Mathematiques” from the Sorbonne University,
Paris, and Ph.D. in “Solid States Physics” from Utah State University.
