Many Christians spend much time and grief attempting to be led by the Lord. The problem is that they do not remember that the formula for obtaining this leading is given clearly in the Bible, and here it is.
Pr 3:6 In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths. (KJV)
The following is a brief definition of the word translated “acknowledge”.

Being led by the Lord is not complicated.
Simply believe that God and Jesus are leading you.
That is then an expression of "faith" in Him. It is a commandment with promise.
The commandment is - acknowledge that God is leading you.
The promise is - that if the individual does that - then God will recognize this as "faith" and fulfill His promise and - God will direct their lives.
This is of course assuming that the person decides to acknowledge that God is leading them throughout their lives - even when they do not understand or approve of the direction their lives are taking.
