Beauty

I often think of how much I miss the ocean
with its sounds, moods and beauty
Miss sitting on the rocks by the shore
watching the birds and seals

Then I look at pictures of my new neigbourhood
~ far away from the ocean~
and realize it has a beauty all its own

The thrill of seeing the arrival of the first Canada Geese
on the still frozen lake
The beauty of a sunset on the melting ice

I realize that no matter where we live,
beauty surrounds us
We just have to open our eyes to see it
and appreciate it
