The Backwater Cruise -Alleppey, "Venice of
the East" has a large network of canals that meander through the town.
The NEHRU TROPHY B OAT RACE held every year in August in the backwaters of Alleppey is a major attraction. The
Scenic and Sea-Sized 'Lake Vembanadu' is flowing along as the verdant
environs flauked on the shores are fluriting with its
ripples.
Kannankara , my native place a gifted land of Vembanadu, has its
own importance and traditions .The panoramic backwaters of this place
attracting the tourists from all over the world.
It is located at 22Km to the north of Alleppey and
also7Km tothe east of Cherthala.it is enriched with the coconut
trees. Main fishes available
here are 'Karimeen', Prawn,Crab,etc.' Toddy' and 'Tender Coconut' are the
main softdrinks which are produced from coconut tree and so they are
cheaply available here. |

has always enjoyed a unique place in the maritime history of
Kerala.Today Alappuzha has grown in importance as a backwater tourist
centre, attracting several thousands of tourists each year.
Alappuzha is also famous for its boat races, houseboat holidays,
beaches, marine products, and coir industry. A singular characteristic
of this land is a region called Kuttanad. A land of lush paddy fields,
Kuttanad is also called the Rice Bowl of Kerala and is one of the few
places in the world where farming is done below sea level.
