More applications than usual began to arrive from students from abroad. Applications for places came from Argentina, France, Spain, Italy, Germany,Sweden, Denmark, Holland, South Africa, The USA and Australia.
The Jamborees started by Tony Collings continued on an annual basis and many stories are told of ‘The French boys’ who appealed to all the girls because of their devastating good looks.

The lecture room above the tack room at the Tanyard was turned into sleeping accommodation for the boys, who had ex-army camp beds to sleep on. The girls were all accommodated in much the same way downstairs.

On many occasions during the week unannounced parties were found to be taking place in one or other of the dormitories.
