Doreen

Hurt, regrets, and pain fill you completely
Alcohol took its hold
Like an octopus
Strangling good sense and forethought

A price to be paid, a cost far too high
Damage done wreaks havoc
Life is like a tornado
Agitating complex problems

Tears fall unstoppable across my desk
Guilt possesses your soul
Like a demon dark and terrible
And over and over again you fail

Your daughter now holds the bottle
Remorse imprisons your ability
Like a jailer dreadful in his ways
And you know not where to turn

Yet, you won the battle of the bottle
Victory over which is awesome
I say to you, “The past can not be changed.”
“But, it can be forgiven.” “Forgive yourself.”
