Candy Dreams

Here's my Valentine's fic thing. I'd like to thank my mom, who helped me out when I got stuck. ^_^

"But the mind is an amazing thing
Full of candy dreams and new toys..."
Savage Garden

Bra was eating the little candy hearts with the messages on them. "They say that if you eat these, you'll be lucky in romance," Bra said, sticking the bag in front of Pan's nose.
"It's just a sham to get you to buy it, and you fell for it," Pan said, rolling her eyes.
"I _know_ that," Bra said, "And I don't care."
Pan looked at her. "You made that up, didn't you."
Bra nodded. "Want one?"
"No thanks."
"Seriously, though, I think these things could be used to get a couple together."
"Bet you it wouldn't work."
"Bet you five dollars that it could. I'll have you together with the guy of your dreams by Valentine's Day. That only gives me three days, counting today."
"I'd take you up on that, except I don't want you near my love interest."
"How about this, then- I'll pick a guy and I'll get him to like you."
"All right. Who is he?"
"That's for me to know and you to find out," Bra giggled.
"OK, but you can only use the little hearts, OK?"
"Deal," Bra agreed.

Bra tapped on her mother's door. "Kaa-san, I need a favor. I need you to make a candy heart machine."
After Bra's explanation of what she had in mind, Bulma quickly agreed.

Trunks was eating a late-night snack when Bra wandered down, still eating candy hearts. "Those again?" he asked, rolling his eyes.
"They say that the first heart you pull from a bag can tell your fortune," Bra said, as she offered the bag to Trunks. "Just take one." They were the large sized hearts, so Bra had been able to fit more message on it.
Trunks pulled a heart out, sighing, knowing that his sister wouldn't stop bugging him until she'd gotten him to go along with her silly game.
"'Night Trunks!" Bra said, skipping out.
Idly Trunks flipped the heart over to see what was written on it. His eyes widened. Written on the heart was "Young and sweet." But no one could have known about his crush on Pan...he shook his head to clear it. It had to be just a coincidence.

Bra doubled over in silent laughter at the expression on Trunks's face. She glanced into her bag of hearts...all of which had "Young and sweet" written on them. Trunks's crush on Pan was obvious to her, and it was equally obvious that she liked him as much. And since it would be easier to get five bucks if the target boy already liked Pan. She went up to talk to her mom about the next set of hearts.

Trunks didn't like having to drive Bra to school, but everyone else was busy. Again, she offered him one heart from her bag, and he stuck it in his pocket for later. After she got out, he pulled the heart out of his pocket. "Age matters not in love."

"What are you grinning at?" Pan asked, when Bra walked into class.
"Oh, nothing...except I think you'll be owing me five bucks soon."
Pan just shook her head, knowing Bra probably had some poor boy scared half to death.

Bra skipped cheerfully into the house, dropping her book bag on the way in, and accidentially squashing Vegeta's toes. As Vegeta hopped around in pain, Bra skipped upstairs and dug out the bag of hearts with the appropriate labels from under her bed.
"Hmmm, is it this one? No, here it is!" she muttered to herself, bottom sticking out from under her bed.
"Here what is?" Goten said, sticking his head into the room. Bra shot up in startlement, banging her head on the underside of the bed.
"Ack, gomen Bra, I didn't mean to," Goten started.
Bra winced, rubbing the back of her head. "No, it's OK. I should have known you were there." Suddenly she laughed. "Goten, you are such a dork."
"Thanks," he said dryly. "I guess that means you're OK."
"Yeah, just peachy. What were you doing in my room?"
*Being a total pervert. I'm falling for a girl over ten years younger than me.* "Um, just stopping in to see how you are. What were you looking for?"
Bra held up the bag of hearts, explaining her plan to Goten. He inspected the bag she had used on Trunks this morning. "Sounds elaborate. Good luck."
He pulled out several of the hearts and popped them into his mouth, reading another heart as he did so. "Eeege mttrs not nn luvv?" Goten questioned around a mouthful of candy. Swallowing, he continued, "You believe that, Bra?"
"Yeah," Bra said, "I'm in love with a guy who's..." Bra trailed off mid-sentence at the intense look in Goten's dark eyes. "Who's..." she tried again, as Goten got closer to her. Before she even quite realized what was happening, Goten's hot lips were on hers, hungrily. When they came up for air, Goten said, "Gomen, Bra, I shouldn't have-"
"Ahem," Bra said, a teasing note in her voice, "As I was going to say before I was so rudely interrupted, I'm in love with you, Son Goten."
Goten threw back his head and laughed. "You were not," he disagreed. "You were saying 'who's...who's...'" he teased, as he leaned his forehead against hers. "And I love you too, B-chan."
"We need to talk about what to tell our parents," Bra said, not sounding like she really cared.
Strangely, not much talking got done.

"It's Valentine's day!" Bra said chirpily as she came downstairs for breakfast the next morning.
"You're chipper," Bulma said. "Usually you're depressed today."
"She mssst hve a buyfnd," Trunks mumbled around breakfast.
"Correct! Most years I've been pining after a guy I thought I'd never get. This year we're together!"
Trunks rolled his eyes, and they crossed as Bra shoved a bag of hearts under his nose. He took one with no little trepidation, but he was hooked now. He had to know what the little hearts had to say.
He quickly stuffed it in his pocket for later. He didn't want Bra laughing at him for taking the hearts too seriously.

At work, Trunks slowly dug the heart from his pocket to see what it said today. "Enchanting blue eyes."
Trunks shook his head. *What do they say- 'once is chance, twice is coincidence, but three times is conspiracy?' Maybe they really do tell fortunes...*

After school he had to pick Bra up and she offered him another heart.
"Confess love or lose it." On the way home, he thought about what the heart had said.
*There is a point. If I do tell her, what do I have to lose? If I don't- she could marry someone else without ever knowing that I love her.*
He jerked the car aside into the parking lot of a flower shop, amidst Bra's squeals of suprise. "What are you trying to do, Trunks," she yelled, looking ruffled, "Kill me?"
"No, I'm just gonna buy some flowers."
"Oh? So you mean you're finally going to get a girlfriend?" she teased.
"Shut up Bra," he mumbled, shutting the car door and walking towards the shop.
As soon as he was inside, Bra started laughing. Dialing up Goten's cell phone, she told him, "He fell for it, hook, line and sinker. Pan's going to be very suprised come tonight."
She could hear Goten's deep, rich laughter on the other end of the phone. "You know I'm never gonna let him live this down."
"I know, I know. Oh- here he comes with the biggest bouquet I have ever seen in my life."
Trunks opened the car door and shoved the flowers onto Bra's lap. "Hey- hey! Can't you see I'm talking to someone here?" she yelled.
"Well I have to drive."
"OK, I have to go. Trunks will kill me if his precious flowers get smushed."
"Darn right," Trunks agreed.
"Luv ya, bye!" Goten said.
"Love you too! See ya tonight! Eight at your place?"
"Yup. Ja!"
"Your boyfriend?" Trunks said dryly.
"Yup! I have a date! And- ahhhhh! I don't have anything to wear!" She dialed Marron's number and quickly made shopping plans.
"Why not Pan?"
"That girl has no fashion sense, Trunks." *And she has to be around so you can confess your love.*

Goten gasped as he opened the door for Bra. She was wearing a velvety sleeveless red dress with a tail trailing behind her and red high heels, along with gold hoop earrings and a gold necklace with a golden fan on it. Her hair was in a french braid with a red ribbon braided in with it.
"You- look- gorgeous," he managed to get out.
Goten didn't look half bad himself, in a navy semi-formal suit that showed off his muscular form.
"Thanks. Where are we gonna eat?"
"I was thinking this nice Italian place, but first I thought maybe we could go spy on Pan and Trunks?"
Bra's eyes lit up. "Sure!"

Pan was sitting on a dock in the park, dangling her feet into the lake sadly. No date again. Some things would never change.
Trunks landed lightly behind the girl and snuck up behind her. Covering her eyes, he handed her the bouquet, letting her sniff the flowers as he said, "Guess who?"
"T-trunks?" she said tentatively.
"Right!" he said. You get to keep the flowers!"
"Trunks you goof! What are you doing here?"
"I came to see a pretty girl and tell her I love her. That girl is you Pan-chan."
Pan gasped. "T-trunks?"
"Is that all you can say?" he teased.
Pan threw her arms around him. "I- I love you too, Trunks." He kissed her full on the lips then.
A minute went by, and suddenly a crash came from a nearby tree. Bra sat up and brushed herself off, trying to look like she fell from trees in formal wear on a regular basis. Walking over to the bug-eyed Pan and Trunks, she calmly announced, "You owe me five bucks."
Goten was a little less graceful, as he shook his head trying to clear out the stars that had gotten there when he hit his head on a rock at the bottom of the tree. After a moment he sauntered after Bra.
"What are you two _doing_? Trunks said, his voice squeaking.
"Well, we were gonna go eat, but first we decided to spy on you two."
"T-together?" Trunks said, his voice sqeaking more, as everyone laughed.
"Let's make it a double date," Bra announced, and they all went off to eat (a lot), drink, and be merry.
