Depthcharge

Image: Depth Charge cuts an imposing figure over other, smaller Maximals, and is adept at throwing around his size to make his point. His body is mostly an aquamarine color, with accents of yellow and purple, and crimson optics. He has a masklike, near expressionless face, locked in a permenant stern frown. His new beast mode has gifted him with panel fins on his back (decorated with various symbols as well as his alliance marker) which he can also use as a wrap-around shield, and a long silver tail that can be used as a spear. His vehicle mode shifts the fins around into wings, allowing him to travel well in air as well as water. The beast mode face, on his torso, fires disks as a secondary weapon; when Depth Charge is in his vehicle mode, these same yellow disks fire from the mouth. Depth Charge's missle launcher, when not used for its primary purpose, doubles as a shark drone: his secondary pair of eyes in the sea.

History: He was once the chief of security for a self-sufficient space colony: Omicron. His life and work, friends and family, were aboard this colony... And then, one day, the experimental Maximal prototype called Protoform X broke free, and ran loose inside. Protoform X had a lust for destruction, and tore the colony apart, killing everyone Depthcharge ever held dear, and destroying the life he knew. After X escaped the colony, Depthcharge vowed he would not rest until Protoform X was hunted and destroyed. For three years, he followed X's path of destruction through outer space. Finally, he brought him down. Uncertain of how to destroy this monster, who was possessed of an indestructable spark, Depthcharge brought him in heavy chains before the Maximal High Council, hoping that they would have the solution to undo their terrible mistake. However, they were incapable of (or, as he sometimes suspect, were simply unwilling to) destroying Protoform X, and instead gave the monster, locked down in a stasis pod, to the crew of the starship Axalon. The orders to the commander, Optimus Primal, were to dump the pod on a barren planet. As Depthcharge saw the new commander take his ship into the stars, he knew that the High Council's plan would fail, and decided to track the movements of the ship. He could rest easy for a time, finding Protoform X inactive, but, after a few years had passed, Depthcharge began to sense a trace of his signal, somewhere in space. Knowing right away that this was trouble, he followed the Protoform X signal to its source, even driving through space where travel had been restricted by the Council, and into a time-rift anomaly that shot over his body and changed him into a new form. His tiny Starhopper ship—one of his only possessions—landed in deep water. A life-form scan and transformation sequence later, he became a manta ray. His tracking skills allowed you to locate Protoform X on the planet, who reintroduced himself to Depthcharge as a Predacon crab called Rampage... before destroying his submerged ship and only means of escape from this planet. However, he also met up with a team of Maximal explorers here: the crew of the Axalon, to be precise, plus a few who had been formed from stasis pods after the ship's crash landing on Earth. As it turns out, there was a war being fought here: a small-scale war with a large-scale importance, where the stakes included the fate of Cybertron, and the very fabric of time. Though he was actually a bit bemsued by the situation's drama, and extremely frustrated at having to call Optimus Primal his commander, he had found that Rampage was a part of this rival Predacon unit, and, so, joined the Maximal side of the war.

"You're not X? Then you're not my problem." Depth Charge's single-mindedness is well-recognized among his Maximal allies. He arrived looking for X, He is still looking for X, and he means to destroy X. Everything else is just details. If his sensors show that Rampage is in the vicinity, everything else—the other Maximals, the orders, the mission—takes a back seat. Depthcharge is usually abrasive to the other Maximals, and talk down to them, calling Optimus merely "Primal," and his sniveling second, "Mouse." Optimus Primal was a low-ranking shrimp when he spoke with him last, and, Ark or no Ark, Prime or no Prime, he'll never be worthy of a commander's respect from him. Inside Depthcharge knows that preserving life is important, just as there was a time when it was his duty not to hunt and kill, but to protect the lives of others. He feels no responsibility toward the other Maximals on a personal level, but on a professional level, they are still his unit, and a unit will not succeed without teamwork. Depth Charge will accept Maximal orders that are not in conflict with his primary mission. He will even risk himself to save others. His will for self-sacrifice comes from an inner sense not of heroism, but of despair... Depthcharge can think of nothing more he wants from life than to destroy Rampage, and he has nothing at all to go back to once he is gone.
