From Seventeen Online; The End of Buffy?
In other WB news, the net may give up Buffy the Vampire Slayer when its five-year contract to air the series runs out next year. "I love the show, but from an economic standpoint, it doesn't have the same place in our lineup that a show like ER has for NBC," an exec from the teen-friendly net said. We know it's hard to believe, but the cult classic in the making has recently ranked in the bottom half of TV's top 100 shows. But don't fear, it seems that we won't lead a Buffy-less existence, even if the WB bean-counters do bail on the Sunnydale crew. Industry insiders say that FOX or ABC (other nets that attract young female viewers) might adopt the show.
