"Computer, where is Seven?" Harry asked.

"Seven of Nine is in sickbay," the computer replied.

Harry recycled his tray of uneaten food and left the messhall, heading for turbolift two. He'd lost his appetite when he overheard someone say that Megan Delaney was to be promoted. Harry was a man who took rumors very seriously. He had to know if it was true. Megan was in astrometrics – perhaps Seven knew something.

He fumed inwardly as he walked down the corridor, nodding pleasantly to his crewmates. Was everyone on the ship going to be promoted ahead of him? Was he destined to be the oldest damned Ensign in Starfleet? Hell, at this rate even Tom Paris would be a Lieutenant (again) before he would.

He stepped into the turbolift and barked out, "Sickbay." Aggravated, he tapped his foot impatiently as the turbolift carried him to his destination.

In sickbay, the Doctor was chiding Seven for her lack of a social life.

"You report to astrometrics, you do your work, you eat alone in the messhall, and you regenerate in the cargo bay. You need to get out more!"

"I am content with my life the way it is, Doctor," Seven insisted. "Socializing is irrelevant."

"It is not irrelevant, Seven. It's part of being human," the Doctor said. "I'm afraid that as your doctor, I must insist."

Seven sighed. "What do you suggest?" she asked.

"I thought you’d never ask," the Doctor said with a smile. "How about a game of pool at Sandrines."

"Well, all right," Seven agreed. "But remember that my visual acuity is superior to a human's. I will defeat you."

"I'm not human," the Doctor pointed out. "Whenever you play pool with me, you are sure to be the loser."

Seven rolled her eyes as the Doctor donned his mobile emitter. They left sickbay together and headed for turbolift one.

As Harry approached sickbay, he felt a familiar flutter of anticipation. He was still attracted to Seven, despite his regular denials to Tom, B'Elanna, and even himself. Perhaps he could convince her to spend some time with him. They were both off-duty. Perhaps a stroll along Fair Haven's shore. He quickened his pace.

The doors to sickbay swished open, and Harry smiled hopefully as he walked in.

No one was there. Seven had probably gone off somewhere with the Doc. He couldn't even compete with a hologram. No wonder he couldn't get a promotion.

He saw a movement out of the corner of his eye and turned quickly, but it was only Leonard, sitting like a lump on one of the biobeds, staring at him.

"The loser," Leonard stated.

Harry sighed dejectedly.
