While Mulder had run off to grab a bite to eat, Al and Robert returned to the Project to keep Ziggy at top efficiency, since Al didn't want anything to go wrong, and Robert reluctantly agreed. The only people remaining were Sam and Scully.
Scully sat at her desk, pouring over her computer screen...
"I'm doing a background check," she said. "Hayes used to live with his mother, and when I tried to call her a week ago, I had learned the number had been disconnected. Looking furthur, I couldn't find a trace of where Mrs. Hayes could be, so I'm checking her background for more clues." Suddenly, she stopped what she was doing.
"What?" Sam asked, and moved around the desk to look at the screen.
"According to Barry's birth certificate, he was born in 1965, but his mother had gone missing since 1963. She used to work for an organization called the Phoenix Foundation in chemical research, but she was caught up in a chemical explosion and was never found..."
