It was during my Sophomore year that I became a close friend to Troy Murphy. We both found that we had a lot in common.
We could always be found playing Dungeons & Dragons or watching MTV music videos. We both loved to write and came up with some crazy stories. Troy also liked comic books, so we hit it off real well. Troy was my best friend all through highschool.
Our Senior year was the best. We had art class together and talked about our stories and drew pictures and comics. We were inseperable.
Once while I was riding to Owensboro with Troy and his brother, Carlos, we were passing a farm tractor. The driver made a left turn without signaling and we couldn't stop in time. I'll never forget that day. It was kind of scary, really. I was in the passengers seat, Carlos was driving, and Troy was in the back. I remember the glass shattering all over me and my nose hitting the dash. I woke up with a nosebleed every morning for several months after that. None of us were wearing seatbelts, so it's a miracle we were not injured.
Troy and I have kept in touch over the years and every so often he will send me a new story. Troy was always very imaginative and creative.
