Follow-Up

Alright, you've witnessed to this person; you've presented the good news of Jesus to them. They have either accepted it or rejected it. So what now? Let's look first at what do if they accepted it.

Acceptance of the Gospel

Keep in touch

It is incredibly important that you get their email or something else to keep in touch with them. I look at it like this: newborn Christians are like newborn babies. If you leave them alone after birth they will not make it. The newborn Christian will be easily lead astray by Satan. Plus, as they study God's word and explore this new life they have they will have questions. Try your best to answer them and if you don't know ask someone who can answer it.

Pray for them

Prayer is one of our strongest weapon in spiritual battle. So it is very important that you pray for the new Christian, maybe even several times a day! Pray for things such as Jesus giving them strength and a stronger faith. Ask The Lord to protect this convert, so that the evil one will not harm them in any way shape or form. And pray for yourself too; things such as strength, wisdom, patience, etc. Have other's pray for them too. Feel free to post a praise and prayer request at our Praise and Prayer board.

Help them find a church

As part of this new Christian's growth they need to find a local church for them to go to. Not only for the teaching but also for the Christian fellowship. You might want to suggest to them to go to a church of the same denomination that you go to. That way you aren't sending them into some Christian "clone" church; it acts, talks, and looks like a Christian church, but it is spiritually dead. They may want to visit several churches before they find one they like. You might also want to get in touch with the pastor of the church. Doing this is kind of as a way of seeing if this is a spiritually dead church. Just remember, care for this new Christian as if they were you own child.

Rejection of the Gospel

PRAY, PRAY,PRAY!

As with the person that accepted Jesus, you must pray for the one who rejected Christ even more! You can't pray too much for this person! Who knows maybe because you prayed for them that extra time they will be saved. Pray continually that someday they will accept the Gospel. And have others pray for them. More people praying doesn't hurt. Feel free to post a prayer request on our Praise and Prayer board.

Keep in touch

This one goes hand in hand with praying for them. Hopefully someday because of you they will accept Jesus. But do NOT keep forcing Jesus on them! Bring it up from time to time. Instead, be their friend, ask them how things are going, is work going fine, etc. Do whatever you would with any of your other friends. Just becareful that they don't lead you astray! But also remember that if they don't want to keep in touch that you should respect that. You won't help anything by forcing yourself on them.

Show them Jesus

Remember, the only way that people see Jesus is through you. Act and speak like Jesus would. Don't get angry or mad, show them kindness, love and patience. When they need a listening ear lend it to them. When they need some help with something give it to them.

Hopefully you won't have to use the tips for those people who reject Christ. It is my hope and prayer that everyone you minister to accepts Jesus. Well that's it, that's all the tips I have for Chatroom Ministry. I hope it is a help, and if you have any questions or comments or even hate mail, please email me. I will keep adding to these pages as the Spirit leads me.
