On 22 September 2012 Bangladesh army backed Muslim settlers attacked indigenous Buddhist people in Rangamati. When the indigenous people counter attacked in self defence Bangladesh army took side with the Muslim settlers. 76 indigenous people were injured and numerous indigenous properties were destroyed. The settlers are attacking South Kalindipur area on 22nd September.

Bengali settlers attack indigenous people over land dispute in Betchari

On 16 September 2012, At least 10 people were injured in a clash between indigenous people and Bengali settlers in Betchari area of Khagrachari district. Of the injured, 4 were admitted to Khagrachhari Sadar Hospital while the rest given first aid. Locals said there was a longstanding conflict between one Subrata Das and Jamit Lal Chakma over 10 acres of land in the area. The clash took place at around 5:30pm when the supporters of Jamit Lal Chakma resisted the bid of a group of settlers, led by Subrata, to construct a house on the land. At a protest rally, Parbattya Bangali Chhatra Parishad (PBCP) yesterday demanded immediate arrest and punishment of the attackers.
