Sujata Chakma
On 9 May 2012 Bangladesh army backed Muslim settlers raped and killed an indigenous Buddhist girl Miss. Sujata Chakma (11) daughter of late Mr. Jyotish Chandra Chakma and Ms. Mongala Devi Chakma of Ultachari area of Atarakchara union under Longadu sub-district in Rangamati district. The victim was a student of year 4 of Ultachari Government Primary School. Muslim settlers killed the girl by mutilating on the neck with a sharp weapon.

Bengali settlers attempt to rape an indigenous Chakma girl in Rangamati

On 12 June 2012, a Muslim settler attempted to rape a 22-year old Chakma girl at district councilís mini-zoo of Hatchery area in Rangamati municipality.

On that day the victim was walking from her home at Vedvedi to Banarupa to attend the computer class. At around 8.30 am when she reached at district councilís mini-zoo of Hatchery area alone, a Muslim settler named Nuruzzaman Munna (22) s/o Mohamed Shahjahan of Radio station area of Rangamati municipality grabbed her from back and started to molest her. Nuruzzaman Munna tried to drag her into the jungle. At that time, local indigenous villagers namely Bacchu Chakma and Nabin Sen Chakma rushed there while the victim was shouting. The villagers caught the culprit red handed and handed over to Kotwali police station.
