Indigenous Chakma home broken by Bangladesh Police and Muslim settlers
On 30 May 2012 Bangladesh police and Muslim settlers raided indigenous Buddhist villages of Howaikyong area under Teknaf in Cox’s Bazaar. In this attack 12 Chakma villagers were severely wounded. 7 Chakma villagers including 4 minors were arrested without warrant. One pregnant woman prematurely gave birth to a baby due to torture and several women were sexually harassed.

Bengali settlers burn down 3 indigenous Tripura houses in Panchari

On 10 May 2012, Muslim settlers burnt down 3 indigenous Tripura houses at Padminipara in Panchari. The victims are Mr. Kamal Sing Tripura s/o Sikiram Tripura, Chikon Moni Tripura s/o Asacharan Tripura and Samiran Tripura.

The Muslim settlers were identified as Mohamed Manik s/o Rang Miya, Mohamed Fazlo s/o Sahid Khan, Anowar Asif and Mohamed Karim. Bangladesh army backed Muslim settlers had been trying to occupy the land from the indigenous Tripura people. At present the indigenous people of Payong Para, Padmini Para and Basa Kumar Para are living with deep anxiety for their land and security.
