Ruikrashu Marma

On 4 December 2007 Bangladesh army backed Muslim settler raped indiegnous Buddhist girl Miss Ruikrashu Marma (10) when she was going to school in Ramgarh of Khagrachari district. Indigenous women and girls in CHT are in constant threat of rape.

Benglali settlers rape an under aged indigenous girl in Rangamati

On 5 March 2008, 2 Bengali settlers raped a 16 year old indigenous girl at Primary Training Institute (PTI) in Rangamati. At 3.30 p.m. on that day two girls named Rupa Chakma (16) from Khagrachari and Sumita Chakma from Dighinala went to the roof of PTI hostel to collect jackfruit. Both girls were primary school teachers and trainees at PTI. At that time, 2 Bengali settlers and teachers named Mr. Tisu Kanti Nath of Uttar Hatimara Government Primary School in Naniarchar and Mr. Al Masud of Baghaichari Model Government Primary School in Baghaichari tried first to take the girls to their rooms by coaxing, but they failed. Later the Bengali settlers forcibly took the girls to their separate rooms. Tisu Kanti Nath raped Rupa Chakma while Al Masud failed as the guardians of the girls rushed there to rescue them. The raped girl was admitted to Rangamati general hospital.
