On 22 September 2012 Bangladesh army backed Muslim settlers attacked indigenous Buddhist people in Rangamati. When the indigenous people counter attacked in self defence Bangladesh army took side with the Muslim settlers. 76 indigenous people were injured and numerous indigenous properties were destroyed.

Bengali settlers grab indigenous people's land in Longadu
In April 2001 with the backing of the Bangladesh army the Muslim settlers led by Mohamed Washek grabbed the land of following indigenous people of Petanyamachara under Bagachatar union of Longadu sub-district.
- Mr. Tarit Kanti Karbari s/o late Sushama Ranjan Chakma of Mahajanpara of Petanyamachara. His 5 acres land was occupied.
- Mr. Dhaneswar Chakma s/o Kripadhan Chakma of Mahajanpara of Petanyamachara. His 4 acres land was occupied.
- Mr. Santosh Jiban Dewan s/o late Ramesh Chandra Dewan of Mahajanpara of Petanyamachara. His 4 acres land was occupied.
