On 28 September 2025, Bangladesh army attacked the indigenous Buddhist and Hindu villages in Khagrachari. Bangladesh army beat 70 years old Abaima Marma in head causing serious injury.

Bangladesh army beat and torture indigenous people in Khagrachari

On 28 September 2025, Bangladesh army personnel of the Khagrachari Brigade suddenly and violently baton-charged the indigenous people at least in four places in Khagrachari town.

The army first baton-charged the indigenous people in the Swanirbhar Bazar area around 8 am. Then, suddenly appeared in the Giriful, Manigram and Kurdiachara areas and beat up any indigenous people they found.

During this time, especially in the Kurdiachara area, a 70 year old indigenous woman, Abaima Marma (70), of Ugalchari, Panchari, was baton-charged and she was left bleeding.

Victims of beatings by security forces in Khagrachari on September 28:

  1. Abaima Marma (70), village- Ugalchari, Panchari was beaten with a baton charge.
  2. Junan Chakma (38), son of Darshan Chakma, Ward No. 6 of Bhaibonchhara Union, Khagrachari. He is a teacher at Panchari College. He was subjected to physical torture.
  3. Jyoti Shankar Chakma (42), son of Amiya Chakma was beaten.

On September 28, 2025, at 10:00 am, a group of Bangladesh army went to Jurmarong Bazar in Bhaibonchara and ordered the closure of shops.

At that time, Panchari College teacher Junan Chakma (38), son of Darshan Chakma, a resident of Bhaibonchara, was physically tortured. Vilage Doctor Jyoti Shankar Chakma (42), son of Amiya Chakma, was beaten up too.
