Bengali settler grab indigenous Buddhist land in LongaduMohammad Mobarak Hossain, a Muslim settler from the Kala Pagojya cluster village of Goltila area under the jurisdiction of Longadu forcibly and illegally occupied the agricultural land of Mr. Niranjan Chakma, the son of Mr. Ananta Chakma of Dakshin Pablakhali village under the jurisdiction of Longadu, Rangamati distric. Mr. Ananta Chakma appealed to the local TNO (Thana Nirbahi Officer)of the Longadu Thana area to remove the Muslim settler from the land. Then, the TNO ordered the Muslim settler to vacate the land by April 4, 1994. But Mohammad Mobarak Hossain defied the order and the TNO also had not taken further action to force him to vacate the land despite repeated request by Mr. Ananta Chakma. It confirms that the Muslim settler has occupied the indigenous Buddhist land in collusion with the local civil and military authorities. Even the Muslim settler Chairman of Longadu Union Council, Mohammad Barek had threatened Mr. Ananta Chakma with communal riots if he would try again to regain the land.
