On 22 September 2012 Bangladesh army backed Muslim settlers attacked indigenous Buddhist people in Rangamati. When the indigenous people counter attacked in self defence Bangladesh army took side with the Muslim settlers. 76 indigenous people were injured and numerous indigenous properties were destroyed. The settlers are attacking South Kalindipur area on 22nd September.

Bengali settlers detain 5 indigenous people in Naniachar

On 2 July 1991, in reprisal to the Shanti Bahini attack of 29 June 1991, Muslim settlers arrested 5 indigenous men and women at Burighat Bazar in Naniachar, Rangamati district. Muslim settlers handed the detainees to Bangladesh army of Burighat army camp. The victims are:

1. Miss Athuibi Chakma (19), daughter of Mr. Bhattuaram Chakma of Hatimara, Naniachar.
2. Mr. Samahit Chakma (80), address as above.
3. Mrs. Rangabi Chakma (69), wife of Mr. Samahit Chakma.
4. Mrs. Padali Chakma (55), wife of Mr. Bhattuaram Chakma.
5. Mrs. Santana Chakma (23), wife of Mr. Manikya Chakma.

On 3 July 1991, in reprisal to the Shanti Bahini attack of 29 June 1991, Bangladesh army of 8 EBR from Naniarchar Zone HQ arrested an indigenous person at Naniarchar Bazar in Naniachar, Rangamati district. Bangladesh army accused him of involvement in the 29 June 1991 attack at Burighat. The victim is:

1. Mr. Niranjit Chakma (22), son of Mr. Banshi Lal Chakma of Betchari, Naniachar.
