On 17 April 2011 Bangladesh army backed Muslim settlers attacked the indigenous Buddhist people at Ramgarh leaving at least 2 indigenous people dead and scores injured and missing. The aim of the attack was to drive out the indigenous Buddhists and grab their land. The indigenous victims live in open ground after their homes were burnt down by the Muslim settlers.

Bangladesh army torture indigenous Chakma Buddhists in Baghaichari

On 31 July 1985, Bangladesh Army of 12th Bengal Regiment led by Capt. Amin raided indigenous village Balukhali in Baghaichari, Rangamati district.

During the raid, Bangladesh army indiscriminately beat young indigenous boys alleging them to be members of the Shanti Behini. The victims are:

  1. Indra Kumar Chakma (16), son of Nirod Mohan Chakma of Balukhali, Baghaichari.
  2. Amar Kusum Chakma (18), son of Reboti Mohan Chakma of Balukhali, Baghaichari.
  3. Prabhat Kusum Chakma (16), son of Jatindra Lal Chekma of Balukhali, Baghaichari.
