On 17 February 2011; Border Guards of Bangladesh and Muslim settlers attacked the indigenous Buddhist people at Longadu leaving at least 2 indigenous people seriously injured. The aim of the attack was to drive out the indigenous Chakma Buddhists and grab their land. A Chakma couple pick up the pieces after the house was burnt down by the settlers.
Bangladesh army terrorize indigenous Chakma Buddhists in Naniachar
On 19 March 1985, Bangladesh army of 305 Brigade from Bara Bunia Camp in Longadu launched a military operation at Barpul Para in Naniachar, Rangamati district. The operation was in reprisal to the armed clash between the Shanti Bahini and the Bangladesh army occured on 8 March 1985. During the operation Bangladesh army indiscriminately beat and terrorize indigenous Chakma Buddhists. The victims are:
Prasanna Kumar Chakma, son of Hangsa Chakma of Barpul Para. Bangladesh army inhumanly beat him with bamboo and wooden sticks.
Hridoy Rani Chakma, daughter of Nagar Chan Chakma of Barpul Para, Naniachar. Bangladesh army inhumanly beat her with bamboo and wooden sticks.
Sonabi Chakma, wife of Promod Bihari Chakma of Barpul Para, Naniachar. Bangladesh army inhumanly beat her with bamboo and wooden sticks.
Konika Devi Chakma, child of Nagar Chan Chakma of Barpul Para, Naniachar. Bangladesh army inhumanly beat her with bamboo and wooden sticks.
