It's forty below outside
and I am sitting at the window, quietly, inside a warm coffee shop
drinking my eggnog latte
People pass by.
Their faces in a scowl as the cold winter wind
slaps them on the face.
"You don't have a coat! Aren't you cold?" I ask the stranger
"why yes! Vedy cold, bud I just walk from cross the street, vedy cold"
he replies in his latino accent
(What lovely mysterious eyes you have
Thank you for your cameo in my life's play)
A guy just walked passed with a cigarette in his mitten, facing downwards
I'm surprised it didnt' burn a hole in his glove
Between my sips of coffee,
the movie of life passes by
Who's the main character and will it be a love story?
Maybe if someone falls on that patch of ice
it will become a comedy
All I keep thinking is that I have thirty minutes left on my meter parking
What an unimportant thought.
What would it matter if I returned to find my car with a ticket?
"You're car has over-stayed its welcome"
Well, screw you Meter Maid.
How are your legs working for you?
Do they get you from point A to B?
Is a cup of coffee anything like love?
Hot and tastey at first, but the longer it sits, the more it looses it's heat?
Do you only drink it because you paid for it
even though it's cold now and too sweet at the bottom ?
Everytime the door opens,
I turn to look if you have arrived
Nope, that's not you.. it's someone else
I guess we never set a time,
but I assumed twenty minutes
Was that reasonable?
You have to take the LRT and I am unfamiliar with that mode of transportation
Frankly, the LRT scares me
There are some crazy people on it....
"Amy?"
"Oh! Hi, I didn't see you come in"
