the rise and fall of the great bear
a woven poem from william shakespeare's romeo & juliet
as daylight breaks, a bear cub is born,
from the mind of a genius his essence is torn.
he sweeps away the tattered past of his people,
destroying corruption, but shunning the steeple.
this great red bear spreads his message far and wide,
not to rape and pillage the world of its pride,
but to bring its people together, in good times and bad,
their collective consciousness governs, be it happy or sad.
but could it be that these years are its last?
(they stumble that run fast.)
For soft! what light through yonder window breaks?
it is the splendor of the eagle, prepared to battle for all of the stakes.
the chips are down for the great red bear,
and one by one its allies fall into disrepair.
its ears have not yet drunk a thousand words,
but already it faces destruction by the forces of opposing lords.
although it has survived the attack, and is in less chagrin,
it still faces a greater foe, which is burrowed within.
shouts for reform preside, the bear will not be the same tomorrow,
farewell, cruel world, parting is such sweet sorrow.
