I want to fix the world’s woes Wave a magic wand, or sprinkle some fairy dust or Click the heels of my ruby slippers together And make it all better Make there be no more sick people No more misunderstandings No more prejudice No more people going hungry Or dying because nobody seemed to care And no more broken hearts Or separated friends Or people who can’t find themselves, and are so desperate that they take their lives. But what if I could wave my magic wand and make it all go away forever? Would it stay away, or find ways to come back Even the most perfect utopia seems to have a flaw What if we could all just trust each other, and love the world as God loves us? Know that the person who asks for money in the subway station really needs a ticket, and is not just looking for easy cash? And be able to leave children in the arms of strangers confident that they will be well cared-for And if you’ve forgotten the phone number for your home, know that the person standing behind you in line for the payphone will give you a ride… Maybe I’m naive, but wouldn’t you like this too? Or has this world grown too cynical to love? Maybe I’m a dreamer no, I am a dreamer, dream with me.
