My Thoughts
This is the definitive greatest hits collection of Tom Cochrane and his band Red Rider. They've been around forever, either with or without the Red Rider extra in the title. They are a Canadian institution, and I have been a fan for about ten years. Its a three-disc set with tracks going as far back as 1979, and as recent as 2002.
The first disc comes from the heyday of the Red Rider days during the 70s and 80s, with classics like "Boy Inside The Man" and "Big League", along with the new tune "Just Like Ali". Its an absolute joy to hear these tracks.
The second disc is from the plain old Tom Cochrane days of the 90s. It includes his biggest hits, like the #1 played song of 1991, "Life is a Highway", and just about every big hit he had in that decade. Also included is the new one, "Pictures From the Edge".
The third, limited edition disc is live versions of 7 of the songs. They capture a good cross-section of the entire career of this Canadian legend, and his energy on stage.
I really like this disc. it was a walk through memory lane, as most greatest hits packages are, but its energy is boundless. I whole-heartedly recommend checking out this chronicle of modern rock. It gets a 5 out of 5.
