My Thoughts
In 2002, Seether burst onto the scene with Disclaimer, a very angry, dark, hard-hitting album. The signature single was "Fine Again", and it got moderate airplay. After that, they appeared on the Daredevil soundtrack ("Hang On") and the Punisher soundtrack ("Sold Me"). They also teamed up with Evanescence front-girl Amy Lee with the single "Broken". Now, the original version of "Broken" was included with the original album. It was a slow, melencholy song with only one guitar and lead vocalist Shaun Morgan wailing the lyrics. Now, the reason Amy Lee joined the band for the new single is because Morgan and Lee are dating. The new single kicked off a different, more radio friendly Seether.
This album is basically the same album as the original Disclaimer. They re-tooled a few of the tracks, and added 8 tunes to the end. Included are the aformentioned soundtrack singles, plus five other great tracks. My favorite tracks are "Gasoline", "Needles", "Fuck It", and both versions of "Broken". I listened to the original release repeatedly, and I still like listening to this release. Its angry, dark, and mostly heavy. Although, they may be swinging back into the pop-ish realm since the radio-play of "Broken" has increased their exposure. Well, I'm hoping they stay angry and mean. And this album gets a 5. Go listen to it.
