The Chronicles of Narnia: The Lion, The Witch & The Wardrobe

As a child, I immersed myself into books and movies in the fantasy and sci-fi genre. Big surprise that the trend has continued into my adulthood. I read the Lord of the Rings trilogy, I read Dungeons & Dragons novels, and I read the Narnia Chronicles, well before I read the others. I enjoyed the series, and it kept me into the genres of fantasy and then into sci-fi. So, after the Lord of the Rings was so well done over the past few years, the news of Narnia coming to the big screen finally made me very happy.
So, I went and saw the Lion, the Witch & the Wardrobe, and I was not dissapointed. The theatre was packed, hard to find a seat, so I ended up in the second row. Sure, that pissed me off, but once the movie started, I forgot all about it. Once Lucy went through the Wardrobe into Narnia and met Mr. Tumnus, I was hooked.
From the first few creatures to the final climactic battle, the whole movie moved seamless and looked breathtaking. Okay, some parts were a little sub-Rings, but the overall effect was flawless. The beavers were very convincing, and Aslan was the pinnacle of the film.
As for the human casting, it was perfect. The children looked just like I pictured them 15 years ago, and Tilda Swinton as the Ice Queen was chilling. I loved her as Gabriel in Constantine, and as the Ice Queen, she was magnificent.
So, after a lackluster year in the theatre, things are looking a little better. This film gets a 9, and I'm so glad they did such a good job.
