My Thoughts
Yes, that's right, I have the Canadian Idol album. I have sold out to the hype of televised singing contests. I enjoy hearing Kelly Clarkson sing and beleive that she has some talent. The inagural Canadian Idol heralded some favorable talent, most of all was the winner, of course. Ryan Malcolm was the favorite from what I watched, and he actually has talent.
The album is pretty catchy. Sure, its pop, but it has a few twists. The first single, "Star Of All The Planets", wasn't a common pop song, and that's what caught my attention right from the get-go. His vocals are superb, and regardless of the tempo, each song is strong. He can belt out a ballad, and bop along with the up-tempo song like a pro. The only bad note is the duet he does with second-place finisher Gary Beals. Its a cover of "Don't Dream It's Over", and frankly, there have been too many of those. All in all, its an enjoyable 15 song outing. And its getting a **** rating. Let's hope Canadian Idol 2 isn't a bust like American Idol 2.
