Plot
Three scientists, Venkman, Spengler and Stantz, have just been kicked out of the university they have been researching. What have they been researching? The paranormal. After their first real encounter with a ghost, and being cut off from all funding, they decide to take it to the private sector. They buy an abandoned fire hall, hire a secretary and begin hunting ghosts.
After hiring another 'ghostbuster', Zedmore, they learn that maybe there is a reason all this is going on. One of their first clents, Dana Barrett, has become possessed by an evil presence, along with her neighbour, annoying accountant Lewis Tully. They soon find out that the building they live in is the center of a phenomenon that will allow an evil god to enter our world. This leads to the quartet of ghostbusters to the roof of said building, where they must save the world from.....the Staypuft Marshmellow Man!
My Thoughts
This is one of my all time favorites. There are so many small, hilarious moments, and if you haven't seen it multiple times, you'd miss them. THey speak so much, but say so little, which is a quality I admire in a movie. All the cast is utterly perfect, and overall movie manages to blend comedy and science fiction seamlessly. Its such a classic movie.

Plot
Five years later, the ghostbusters are down on their luck. Zedmore and Stantz are doing kiddy birthdays, Spengler is back doing research, and Venkman is doing trash TV. However, something strange is happening to their old friend Dana Barrett, who now has a child. She is working in a musuem, and one of the paintings has decided to come alive and wants her kid so he can rule the world.
That brings in the other ghostbuster, even though Dana doesn't want Venkman involved because of their history. What they find is the painting is an ancient despotic ruler, and he commands a river of 'mood slime' underneath the city. The boys use this slime to fight the bad guy when he imprisons Dana in the musuem. They use the slime to make the Statue of Liberty walk, and break into the musuem for the final showdown.
My Thoughts
Even though this one was slightly inferior to the original, it had enough thrills, chills, and belly laughs to keep me interested. There are a lot of classic scenes and lines in this one, and the chemistry between the leads have not diminished in the between years. And the Statue of Liberty walking down the streets of Mahattan was priceless. It served as a good addition to the Ghostbuster lore. Now, I'm waiting for Ghostbusters 3.
