My Thoughts
This band came around the same time Nickelback hit it big, and benefitted from Chad Kroeger's experience and talent. Their first album, The Fallout, was a superb outing, one of the best of that year. And seeing them live was a treat. This album took two years, but the time was well worth it.
They've gone from a rough-edged bar band to a slightly more sophisticated and evolved sound. They still know how to rock, but the sound is a little more polished. It moves smoothly from song to song and adds greatly to their body of work. Some of the songs have an almost Incubus feel to them, but for the most part, they have carved out their own niche. They have a unique sound, for the most part, and have broken away from the stigma of being Nickelback's back-up band. Its an impressive outing, and just as good as their last album. My rating: ****.
