When we got to Airdrie on Wed. night, it was about 10:15 and I kind of hoped that Jar would already be there. Unfortunately, he wasn't and not long after we got to Airdrie, he called to say he was staying the night in Stettler (where Debbie lives) because the weather was so crappy. So, Jim, Lindsey, Amy and I played a few games of Tribond and went to bed.
Thursday morning it was freaking cold! It was 1C when I woke up at 10 am. Only one degree above zero. For you Americuns, that's damn cold! There was actually snow hitting the window in Airdrie. This is in the middle of bloody July! Anyway, not long after I woke up Jared came!!!! The weird thing about Jared coming is this...Jordyn is Jared's neice. However, who did she want to play with? Me. She is 2.5 and just adorable. She hauled me into her bedroom to show me that she had "spelled" my name. She spelled it "CXTWJLQ". You get the idea. Not exactly Catherine, but she is only 2. So, after Jared arrived, we made plans to go back to Ft. Macleod and Lethbridge. He had a bunch of things to do and he wanted to visit his mom. At about 1 pm, we got back in the car and drove south to Ft. Macleod. Thursday evening we went to go see Arlington Road. It was an excellent movie because you never know what is going on in the movie until the very, very end. Plus, it has a kick ass beginning.
Friday, Jared and I slept in. Not because we wanted to but because we were both so darn tired. Then we went to Lethbridge and did a bunch of things. We took Jared's stereo in to be fixed and I went to Smart Set to buy new shirts. I also bought Jared a belt and bought two new CD's, the Dawson's Creek soundtrack and the new Amanda Marshall CD. Both kick, I'll point out. Then we went back to my house to grab a couple of shirts and stuff. We talked to my brothers and then motored out of Lethbridge.
July 20, 1999
Well, time for an update. As some of you may know, I went to visit Jared over the weekend. It was great because I got to spend time with him. However, in some ways, it makes it more difficult. I mean, I know that I have to say good-bye again. That makes me sad. :-(
Anyway, as for my vacation...I worked until 3:30 pm on Tuesday. Then, I went home and packed because I was going to Fort Macleod that evening. Fort Macleod is a little town that is about a half hour away from Lethbridge. That's where Jared is from. Jim and Lindsey (Jared's sister) picked me up at about 5:45 and we were off. On Tuesday night, we went to go see a play in Ft. Macleod. That was really fun. It was called "The Full Mountie" and was kind of based on "The Full Monty". Anyway, so we saw the play and then we went back to Jared's mom's place. We stayed there on Tuesday night and then we went up to Calgary on Wednesday. It was pouring rain in Calgary. But I'm a retard and didn't pack a jacket or a sweater. So, we had to go to the mall so I could buy a rain poncho to keep me from getting soaked. Now, before I go on, I should explain some things about Jared's family. His dad and his mom are seperated and they have been for years. Jared has six sisters and one brother. There are 23 years between the oldest and youngest in his family and they are, in order from oldest to youngest: Carol, Debbie, Marina, Jason, Kelsey, Jared, Lindsey and Amy. So, to continue with my sotry. Once we bought my poncho we went to Marina and Kelsey's apartment in Calgary. That is where I first met Jared's dad. It wasn't as intimidating as I thought it was going to be. We hung out at the apartment for awhile and ate pizza. Then, we went to Airdrie, which is about 20 minutes outside of Calgary. That is where Carol, her husband and their daughter live. Anyway, I have to go to bed, so I will finish my story tomorrow night.
July 10, 1999
Yesterday was my friend's wedding. So, first off, I have to congratulate Angela and Scott. Yeah for them.
It's very difficult to believe that my friend (she is only 9 days older than me) is a married woman. I don't intend on getting married any time soon. Not for a few more years, anyway. I love Jared but I don't have the time or the money to be married.
As for my plans to meet Jared, nothing has really changed. I am going to go to Fort Macleod with Lindsey (Jared's sister) and Jim on Tuesday night and then go to Calgary on Wednesday. Jared should be there on Wednesday night. We will probably go to Fort Macleod again on Thursday and then go back to Calgary on Friday. However, these plans are unconfirmed. Jared will leave Calgary on Sunday and then I may see him a couple of weeks after that. Then, in August, I may go up to see him. I am thinking of driving with my parents to Keg River and take the bus home (maybe even fly to Edmonton). Jared would pick me up (I hope) and then I would hang with him for a few days. However, that would be very, very expensive, so I'll have to see.
Not much else is new. I'm still trying to learn my codes for cashing and they are hard! Talk to you guys soon.
July 8, 1999
It's update time again. Everyone do a little happy dance. So, there isn't much new here. I got another job for a few days. That will be nice, except that week will be a 65 hour week for me, if you can believe it. That is with 40 at IGA and 25 at the exhibition. So, it will mean lots of money for me! Yay! :-)
As for other stuffs, I get to see Jared in less than a week. We are going to meet in Calgary and do stuffs. We are going to go to the Stampede and I am going to see Riverdance! Excellent. And, when I finally see Jared, it will be on our nine month anniversary. Isn't that great? :-)
Anywho, that's all I have to say. Oh yes, I put up a guestbook. Sign, I commandeth thee!
July 6, 1999
Hi everyone! I'm back on the net for the next little while and I felt that an update was certainly in order. For those of you who don't know, I finally got some pictures of Jared and I scanned. I look goofy and Jared looks great. That's usually how it is anyway. As most people know, Jared is away for the summer. He is in Wainwright, AB doing things with the Canadian Armed Forces. I could tell you what he is doing but then I would have to kill you all. You probably wouldn't like that, I would imagine.
As for the rest of my life, it has been tres busy. I've been working lots and trying to save enough to go to school next year. I want to belatedly thank Nancy for the mail from last week. I was touched. :-)
I decided not to do summer school this time around. It is more stess than I need for the summer. I desperately needed my time off this year. Plus, as I just found out today, I got promoted at IGA! That means more money and likely more hours. I'm a wee bit excited about this one! :-) Anywho, time to go. Hope you liked the update.
April 24, 1999
Happy *belated* Birthday to John! *hugs*
I am back! I'm not dead, but my internet was for several days. So, that's my excuse and I'm sticking to it! I am *almost* done finals. I have two more left and then I am free for the entire summer. I'm not even doing summer school this year. I really need a break from school, or I am going to be locked up like a loony person!
Jared leaves in less than a month, however, you should all be able to see a picture of the two of us soon. We are going to get portraits done. It will be wicked! Then you can see gorgeous him and ugly me! :-)
I'll just point out that yesterday was Shakespeare's birthday. This is a monumental day in my life. :-)
Love you all, buh-bye.
March 23, 1999
Well, here's another update. Since it has been so long since I've updated I thought I'd just give everyone a run-down of what is happening in my life right now.
1. I am going to kick out my roommates. They are all driving me absolutely insane. Insane to the point of nervous breakdown. I haven't broken the wonderful news to them yet, but I surely intend to. Soon.
2. I am going to quit my job at IGA. I'm applying for several different positions here and in other places. I can't stand it at IGA anymore because of the crap they are putting me through. I don't know about anyone else, but I sure as heck can't survive on 6 hours a week at minimum wage.
3. Jared and I are still going strong after 5 and half wonderful months.
4. Jared is going away for the summer. It will be difficult but we'll survive. He isn't going that far away. And for anyone that cares, we are going to get our picture taken and I'll try and scan one to show everyone.
5. School is busy. I had a midterm today in Geography. Finals are only 3 or so weeks away. I'm not ready. Stop the world, I want to get off.
Well, that's what is new with me. I'll talk to you all later.
March 2, 1999
It's been awhile since I updated, so I'm here to let anyone who cares know that I am not dead, yet. I'm still kicking around, I have just been tres busy with work, school, family, Jared, roommates and a Patridge in a Pear Tree. So, there you go.
As for my Reading Week with my family, it was mostly good. I bought a couple of new CD's and a new shirt that really kicks some bum. Oh, in case anyone cares, I got roses and a really cute teddy bear for Valentine's Day (that was from Jared). I also got the complete works of Shakespeare. Very cool. (Larry, if you read this, let me know and we'll read together).
On a sad note, however, my grandma (mom's mom) passed away over reading week. That was a very difficult and sad thing to deal with. She was 86 years old and she led a good life. So, I take comfort in that fact. The funeral was difficult. However, it gave me chance to see family that I never see, so that was a blessing. I was asked to sing "Amazing Grace" for the funeral. That was one of the most difficult things I have ever had to do, but I did manage it. I have performed in front of people before, but never completely by myself or in those circumstances. However, I did it for Daisy and that's what matters.
Anyway, time to toodle off to school. Talk to you all later. Love you, bye bye. :-)
February 10, 1999
Well, in case you can't figure it out, today is my mom's birthday. She's old!
Okay, now for my stuffs. I've been away from the puter for awhile, because I've been sick and school is keeping me busy. I was wrong, I'm not dying, I just have the flu, like the rest of the world (or the university, whatever). Well, there isn't much new in my life. I'm just doing the same old university game. I go to class, come home, study or go to work and then pass out from sheer exhaustion. Boy, is university ever fun! One of these days, I'll join the real world, but not yet. I'm *really* having way too much fun doing this!
I'm going away to visit me mom and dad and brothers for Reading Week. I'm looking forward to it, because 1) I miss my family and 2) It will give me some time to relax. That's the theory anyway. Anyway, essay to write.
February 1, 1999
I'm back again! I just got home from school and am on my way to work, so I thought I'd stop in and say hi to you all. Let's see, what's up?
Not much. I'm sick, yet again. I think maybe I'm dying, but I *might* just be over-reacting. :-) No, I just don't get enough sleep, so I stay sick. Of course, that could be easily rectified, but I'm not going to do it! :-)
Had my staff Christmas party on Saturday night. Most exciting, I must say. I won the Discman, yet again. Now I am torn as to what to do with it. My mom's birthday is coming up, Shannon wants it, Jared wants it, my brother wants it ad nauseum. Maybe I'll hide it and the first person to find it wins! ;-) The party itself was okay, but the main problem with working at a place like IGA is the fact that there are old people and young people and never the tween shall meet. The old people didn't like the young people's music and vice versa. You see the problem?
Anyway, it is time, once again to prepare myself to greet the ordeal ahead...ie to get ready for work. Love you, buh-bye.
January 28, 1999
Uh oh! I've been delinquent. I fell of the earth for awhile. Uh huh! That's my excuse and I'm sticking to it. Actually, I've just been super busy with school and work and Jared. I now have two jobs (sort of), plus I've been helping Jared's sister, Lindsey, move. I'm also trying to concentrate more on school this semester. I think I too can have a good GPA. Here's hoping, anyway.
As for what else I've been up to...hmmm, I've been going out a lot. Last weekend, I went out both Friday and Saturday nights. Friday night, I went to the bar for Tina's birthday! Happy Belated Birthday Tina and Erin. Saturday night, I went the the UofL Music Club's Big Band Cabaret. However, Shannon, Matt, Jared and I started off the evening by going to eat dinner at the Keg. *drool* Their food is incredible!!!!!!! Too bad it is so expensive.
This last week, I have been really sick again. I'm not sure with what, but it seems that my roommate and I have both been afflicted. Poopy.
Speaking of roommates, one of mine has disappeared, it seems. We haven't heard from him in 5 or 6 days. We think he *might* be in Edmonton, but there is no way to be sure. Anyway, I'm sure you are all getting bored with hearing about my life. Take care all.
Oh yes...here is a really funny forward, compliments of Shannon.

Ah yes, Tuesday. Tuesday is an evil day, because it comes after Monday. And, as we all know, Monday is the worst day ever invented, so Tuesday has to be up there. Did you ever think about it? We spend 1/7 of our lives in Monday. That's depressing and I have come to the conclusion that Mondays should and ever hereafter will be banned! This is my decree and it is good.
Allrighty then. Enough of that incoherent babbling. Time for some more. As you all should know, I am a student at an institution of higher learning in this wonderfull country I like to call Canada. Now, why am I stating the blatantly obvious, you ask? Because I'm leading up to a joke. Now stop asking dumb questions! Anyway, everyone knows light bulb jokes of some sort or another. So, for your reading pleasure I present:
REVIEW OF CANADIAN ACDEMIC PROGRAMS IN LIGHT BULB REPLACEMENT :
How many U of T students does it take to change a light bulb? Two
... one to change the light bulb and one to crack under the pressure.
How many Queen's students does it take to change a light bulb? One
... he holds the bulb and the world revolves around him.
How many Waterloo students does it take to change a light bulb? Six
... one to design a nuclear-powered bulb that never needs changing,
one to figure out how to power the rest of Waterloo using that nuked
light bulb, two to install it and one to write the computer program that
controls the wall switch.
How many UNB students does it take to change a light bulb? None
...
New Brunswick doesn't have electricity.
How many UBC students does it take to change a light bulb? Only one
... but he gets six credits for it.
How many Laurentian students does it take to change a light bulb? None
... Sudbury looks better in the dark.
How many Ottawa students does it take to change a light bulb?
Trick
question ... Ottawa isn't a real university.
How many Western students does it to change a light bulb? Five ...
one to change the light bulb and four to find the perfect J CREW outfit
to wear for the occasion.
How many UNBC students does it take to change a light bulb? None
...who
gives a flying hoot if it's burned out anyway!
How many Carleton students does it take to change a light bulb? Two
... one to change the bulb and one to complain about how, if they were
at a better school, the light bulb wouldn't go out.
How many Guelph students does it take to change a light bulb? Seven
... one to screw it in and six to figure out how to power it on manure.
How many University of Victoria students does it take to change a
light bulb? None
... lava lamps never burn out man!
How many Simon Fraser University students does it take to change a
light bulb?
They wouldn't change it because that's just what the ruling
class bourgeois swine would want to see the impoverished student do...a
demonstration is definitly in order.
How many University of Alberta students does it take to change a
light bulb? Five
... one to change it, one to protest for more funding,
one to picket for lower taxes, two to turn the event into a summer
festival.
How many University of Lethbridge students does it take to change a
light bulb? Four
... one to change it, one to complain about the
subterranean campus, and two to explain where Lethbridge is.
(Editor's Note: This is my university (duh) and the comment about the subterranen campus is most definitely true! The place is a big coffin, I tell you. And no, I won't explain exactly where Lethbridge is!)
How many University of Calgary students does it take to change a
light

... one to change it, one to drive the combine.
How many University of Saskatoon students does it take to change a

I just got home from work. I wasn't supposed to work today, but I got called in because one of the courtesy clerks (my job) called in sick. Bite me. I didn't want to work today, but I needed the money. In honour of this event, I present a link to you: Grocery Store Rants. I don't necessarily agree with all of them, but they pretty much sum up my feeling for the old IGA.
January 8, 1999
It was another fun day of classes again. Actually, I had a very odd day, because it felt like I slept in. I didn't really, because my class wasn't until 11 am. But I can't remember the last time I had a full night's sleep. It's a rather rare occurance. I think I'm getting sick, because I haven't been feeling well for days. But that might be back to school blues, too. The rest of my classes yesterday were alright, however I am rather upset because my prof for Children's Lit is the same man who almost made me quit being an English major a year ago. However, I'm going to stick it out and not let him get to me. I also went to the college with Shannon today. You are asking why I went to the college when I am a university student? Or maybe you don't care. Anyway, Shan had to transfer credit, so I went with. It was an adventure. I ran into two people who have, in the last few months, tossed their cookies at my house. What a joy! And Shan and I didn't run into the person that we sort of went to find, Shan's boyfriend Matt. Anyway, it was an adventure. Right now, I am very tired and think I may mosey on to bed. Talk at you later.
January 7, 1999
Well, here I am again. I went missing from Internet world for a couple of days because the University decided to cut my access. Oh well, it's not like I have time to do *anything* anymore. Blech. I do believe my head is going to explode. I started school again yesterday. That was really fun, I can assure you. I had Elizabethan and Jacobean Drama (with my god, Dr. Ian McAdam, the only person I know who can relate Shakespeare to "The Simpsons") and Child Development. Both fairly interesting classes, I must admit. Then I worked in the afternoon and evening and that really sucked. Why? Because it's work. Today, I have had my Geography class. Canadian Geography. I tell you, it doesn't get any better than this. That was at 8 am. One thing I must explain to you; At the U of Hell, Tuesday/Thursday classes are normally 1 hour and 15 min. long, to make up for the fact that there are only two of them a week. Now, when I signed up to take Geography, I forgot a few important points. 1. I hate 8 am classes, with a passion. Yet, for some odd reason, I continue to take them. Who knew? 2. I hate 8 am Tuesday/Thursday classes even more. Seventy-five minutes that early in the morning is too much for anyone to handle. 3. Geography in high school was *incredibly* boring. I hated it! Why am I subjecting myself to this torture again? D'oh!
As for the rest of my classes, I have yet to experience them. I have a class at 1:40 pm and that is Rhetoric and then I have a class at 6 pm tonight. That is Children's Literature. Should be a fun day. Now that you have all heard my complaining (or have you? Is anyone really reading this?) I wish you Shalom and Good Evening.
January 4, 1999
Happy New Year to Everyone! I have been very busy lately. My parents were down for Christmas and New Years. They left on New Years Day. It was odd. I'm not used to living with them any more. I still miss them though. It's hard to live one way for 18 years and then an entirely different way for 6 months, as I'm sure most of you know all too well. I had a good Christmas. I got some good stuff. I got tickets to see "Riverdance" (giddy up!) and a gorgeous necklace from Jared. Wow! Anyway, time to wrap this up. It's almost time for school again. I'm *so* excited.
December 22, 1998
Well, it's the last day of exams for me. I have my Modern British, Irish and American Drama exam today. I'm a bit worried about it, but not super worried, because I know I'll do fairly well on it. I had my Shakespeare exam yesterday and it was an absolute beast. However, it went okay. And yes, Ian McAdam is still a deity in my world. In honour of my last exam, we have:
Most were quite sleepy,
But none touched their beds,
As visions of essays
Danced in their heads.
Out in the taverns,
A few were still drinking,
Hoping that liquor
Would free up their thinking.
In my own apartment,
I had been pacing,
And dreading the exams
I soon would be facing.
My roommate was speechless,
Her nose in her books,
And my comments to her
Drew unfriendly looks.
I drained all the coffee,
and brew a new pot,
No longer caring
That my nerves were shot.
I stared at my notes,
But my thoughts were all muddy,
My eyes went ablur-
I just couldn't study.
"Some pizza might help,"
I said with a shiver,
But each place I called
Refused to deliver.
I'd nearly concluded,
That life was too cruel,
When futures depend
On grades earned in school.
When all of a sudden,
Our door opened wide,
And Patron Saint Put-it-off
Ambled inside.
His spirit was careless,
His manner was mellow,
He walked across the room
And started to bellow:
"What kind of student
Would make such a fuss
To toss back at teachers
What they tossed at us?"
"On Cliff Notes! On Cribb Notes!
On Last Year's Exams!
On Wing-it and Sling-it,
And Last Minute Crams!"
His message delivered,
He vanished from sight,
But we heard him laughing
Outside in the night.
"Your teachers have pegged you,
So do your best,
Happy Finals to All
And to All a good test!"
December 17, 1998
I had my anthropology exam today. It was okay, could have been better, of course, but it could have been worse. However, in memory of Maureen Godlonton, I'm going to print one of my favourite bible verses.
To every thing there is a season, and a time to every purpose under heaven:
A time to be born and a time to die; a time to plant, and a time to pluck up that which is planted;
A time to kill, and a time to heal; a time to break down, and a time to build up;
A time to weep, and a time to laugh; a time to mourn, and a time to dance;
A time to cast away stones, and a time to gather stones together; a time to embrace, and a time to refrain from embracing;
A time to get, and a time to lose; a time to keep, and a time to cast away;
A time to rend, and a time to sew; a time to keep silence, and a time to speak;
A time to love, and a time to hate; a time of war, and a time of peace.
Ecclesiastes 3.1-8
December 16, 1998
I had my neuroscience exam today. It went alright, I guess. My brain feels like it is fried at this particular point in time, however, that seems symptomatic of exam time in general. My parents will be home in two days. Dear God, the house is a freaking mess. Should be fun to clean eh? Oh well. I'm not sure if this is just going to be a journal. We'll see. I might put funny forwards and stuff on here too.
