Hot Mulled Cider

For Apple-Cranberry Spiced Cider, use cranberry juice instead of orange juice

  • 2 quarts apple cider
  • 1 cup orange juice
  • 1/2 cup light brown sugar
  • 1 tsp. ground cloves
  • 1 tsp. allspice
  • 1 tsp. ginger
  • 2 whole cinnamon sticks
  • 1 small orange, thinly sliced

Preparation -
In a crockpot, combine the apple cider and orange juice. Stir in the brown sugar, ground cloves, allspice and ginger. Add the whole cinnamon sticks. Cover, and set the crockpot on high for about 45 minutes. Turn the crockpot to low and slow cook for 2 to 3 hours. Remove the cinnamon sticks. Garnish with thin, fresh orange slices. Use a ladle to serve hot from crockpot.

This recipe can be prepared early in the day and simmered in the crockpot, set on low, for up to 8 hours before serving.
