Rear Axle

The rear is a Ford 9" utilizing a Moser housing. The housing is made to fit 78-88 A/G bodies. It fits pretty well, except for the lower shock mounts. They seem to be at the wrong angle, and the shocks are binding. Also, I've had problems with fluid leaking from the ends. The ends are GM style, which cost extra (about $40).

UPDATE: 11/00: Installing seals in the housing ends seems to have eliminated the fluid leakage. I've upgraded the rear since I blew out the spider gears over the summer.

I got backing plates from a '72 Chevelle. All the brake hardware and shoes are also '72 Chevelle, which were available at the local parts store. The drums are aluminum and they came off an '86 IROC. I had to bend new brake lines for the rear.
