VIN tags contain the most basic information regarding your Mopar. They are not as useful as the Data Plaques (fender tags), but then they do not take as much time to decode.

VIN tags from 1964 through 1971 contain the same general information. Although 1964 & 1965 differ only slightly, below are general formats for '66-'71;

First Digit........= Car Line
Second Digit...= Price Class of Vehicle
Third & Forth..= Body Type
Fifth Digit........= Engine
Sixth Digit.......= Model Year
Seventh Digit..= Assembly Plant
Last 6 Digits....= Sequence Number of Production
