Continental Accessories "Saddle" Tool Box Installation

Here a few pictures and install notes from the tool box on my 97 Highrider Ext. cab.  It is a lockable diamond plate aluminum saddle box made by:

I ordered directly from them and got the best price (you have to call - they don't have their own web page yet).  With a little haggling I got them down to $114 from $140.  It would have gone down another $10 if I had ordered two of them.

There wasn't much to installing the box.  I just drilled a hole in the four corners of the bottom section and mounted it to the bed using all stainless steel hardware.  I made sure to use 1 inch washers so that the bolt heads didn't pull through the aluminum of the box.

After I had it bolted down straight and level, I adjusted the latch so that it was nice and tight and that was it.

You can see that the box is a little bit wider than the wheel wells in our trucks, but it's only about an inch. The height is just about perfect.  If you pull it up tight against the wheel well, there is still enough room to get behind it to the cargo hook in the corner of the bed. Inside the box, the top section has a separator in it to keep small items in place.  I was actually surprised at how much you can fit into the box.
