My mistress wasn't the only one from her sec 4 class that who went to SRJC. She has 4 other friends to accompany her. However, none of them were taking the same combination as her, so she's all alone again. Fortunately, she was able to make some friends. The combination she took initially was triple science and maths c. However my mistress dropped physics in yr 2 just before the mid year as she can't do well for physics.
Her first friend in SR is Dawne. Initially, she didn't know that Dawne was her classmate. During a lecture in Lt 4, Dawne was sitting beside her. So she talked to her and found out that they are going to be classmates for the next 2 years in SR. Then she got to know Gelin and soon realized that its not so miserable and lonely after all. She soon got to know all her classmates during the class contact time with her CT which was also her maths c tutor Mr Minjoot. During that class, she became the assistant CT rep. It was here that she got to know her two best friends Jane and Guat Leng. How that happened, she has long since forgotten.
Soon it was time to find herself an ECA. She has no interest in sports and stuff. So she thought what can she do? She wanted to join ODAC as her classmate Guat Leng was there. Then again she felt that why join something that she had no interest in? Although it sounded fun. So she went off to look for other ECA. Then she came across the Students' Council. What is this Council thing all about? Curious about it, she decide to give it a try.
Upon filling up the application form then she realize what it really is about. So she told her mother about it. Her mother told her to go for it. So she hand in the application form. She then had to go through several process to really become a Student Councillor. She had to go through interview, rally and election. Boy was that tedious. She dislike the fact that there is a must have rally and election. To her, it was just trouble and its embarrassing. However, she got through with it and got elected to the council without really knowing how. After the election, she was required to attend the Council training camp (CTC) which was held in Sentosa - Youth Hostel. During the camp, she got to know her fellow councillors. The camp was an enjoyable one where she learned from her seniors more about Students' Council and also its during the camp where the Council president is elected. She was elected into the welfare committee as a member. She was happy to be a member as she will not have to shoulder a very heavy responsibility as her friends in the exco are. After the camp, work began. She and her council friends had to start to prepare for their council investiture. For that, the council was broken in to several teams each doing a certain job. She was to do their council banner together with her friends. Then the day came for their investiture. It was so exciting. The 10th council term had ended and the 11th council term had just began. It was a tearful event for the 10th council. Then she wondered. What's there to cry about? Well, she was proven wrong a year later. After they were sworn in to term, they proceed to take their first council photo. Finally, after the investiture, she was officially a student councillor.
Now back to her school work. After becoming a student councillor, there was still a lot of things to do and her work load got heavier as time progress. Her friendship with her classmates progress too. Soon she realized some of them don't like her. So she reviewed herself but she failed to find the problem about her. Then her good friend Guat Leng told her that she was too noisy and she spoke to singlishly. From then on, she began to change herself to kick those bad habits. Well, there was improvement.

Her mid-year exams were held after her council investiture, leaving her with very little time to prepare. To those who knew her well, she is a stress free person. She does not like to stress herself up as it will not help in anything. Although she did not do well at all during the exams, she told herself to work really hard and be consistent. Being consistent was tough as she is very lazy. Actually her council work wasn't very heavy but she still could not cope well with her studies.
As I had said, my mistress very lazy. No wonder she can't do well in her studies. But she did work hard after that. As the year progressed, her council work increased. There were more projects coming up. Although she was not involved in every planning committee, however, every one had to take part in all the projects to help one another. Can't remember which project committee she was involved in in year 1 but in year 2 she was involved in the 1st orientation committee, the rally committee and the council investiture committee.
There were times where problems arise among the fellow councillors. Internal quarrels and stuff were not desirable in council. So they had trashing sessions, where everyone will voice out all their unhappiness and all. Things will get back to normal after each of these sessions. Until the council advisors decided that they need to go for another retraining. This council retreat was held during the September holidays when my mistress was in year one. It was a tiring camp but fun. However, it was also very near to her year end exams. She had to work very hard after the camp as soon after the holidays, the exams started.
Fortunately for my mistress, she manage to do well enough to be promoted to year 2. [Well, she barely scraped through only loh... ] Year 2 means 'A' levels. As she was involved in the 1st orientation committee, she spent much of her holiday time planning for this project with her fellow councillors. They organized an OGL [ orientation group leader] camp for the yr 2 OGLs. One of her best friend Jane joined to become an OGL after some persuasion. Guat Leng as she doesn't like council did not join. It was a fun camp where the OGLs were trained to take care of the freshies. Their orientation theme was ancient Egypt. So they have four orientation groups namely, Seti (S), Ramses (R), Joser (J) and Cleopetra (C) and the OGLs made banners for their respective OGs. Her own council too had to make an orientation banner too. These were the times where they let their creative juices to work.
The committee after hours of discussion and meeting with the council advisors, came up with a completed plan for the orientation. Every one in the committee had a role to play. My mistress was in charge of the logistics. So she had to take care of the equipments and stuff. During the orientation, they had loads of fun and also loads of work to do. Many events were conducted for the freshies to orientate them to the school, the surroundings, the teachers and their fellow freshies. During the orientation, she made some new friends too. So during valentines' day she got some little presents from them. That year, the school celebrated friendship day and valentines' day by getting the various CT to set up stalls to sell things to raise funds for the school. (can't remember what the funds were for) Anyway, she got some flowers, balloons and cards from her friends. My mistress and her best friend Guat Leng ordered a box of chocolates from this freshman who was selling it. When the chocolates were deliver to them, they had long forgotten that they had ordered it. They didn't even pay money for it. Haha.... free chocolates and a stalk of rose too.
After the orientation, she had to get back to school work. She had to catch up with the past 4 - 5 days work that she missed due to the orientation. Fortunately, it's just the beginning of the year so the teacher haven't covered much yet. Not long after, she had to miss 3 days of lesson due to the 2nd orientation, not to mention the 1 day OGL camp held during the March holidays was tiring enough as after the camp, she had to attend extra biology lesson. Poor thing!
Soon it was time to recruit the 12th Students' council. It was not easy as not many people wanted to become a student councillor. During the orientation, they had try to promote council also they warned the freshies that being in council is not easy. Its not always just play and no work. The interested freshies had to go through interview before they go through rally and election. After the election, the 11th council had to count the votes and all with the teachers. Straight after the election comes the 12th council training camp. It was also held in Sentosa.

The camp made the 11th council realize that their council days were coming to an end. [So sad...] During the camp, the 12th council elects were taught the council song and the council pledge. The 11th council would cry every time they hear the council song. They were stepping down and their council term was ending. They were very sad about it as everyone can't bear to leave.
It was till then that my mistress understood how the 10th council felt when they stepped down. The 12th Council Investiture was the saddest day of her jc life. She stepped down as a councillor on that day. Everyone cried but they know that even when council is gone, the friendship will always remain.

After her stepping down, mid year exams and prelims came very fast. She and her friends stayed for the night study. Usually their night study seldom yield anything fruitful. They would go out for dinner at Hougang Mall or just to the kopitiam outside the school and return back to school few hours later only to start writing each other's autography books. Those were the best time when they did everything except to study. They had loads of fun and it was also the time where she and her classmates took the most photos. Soon the fun had to stop as the 'A' levels were fast approaching.
However, after their
'A' levels, my mistress and her friends came together again attending the school
prom night together. The prom was held in Hotel Intercontinental. My mistress
says that it ballroom was nice. She took quite some pics with her friends. She
enjoyed her JC days the most. She dislike her secondary and primary school days
as many unhappy incidents happened during that time which tainted her memories
with lots of unpleasant ones.
