The Responsibility

Purity isn't just for girls. In fact, as a guy, it's your responsibility to maintain purity in any and every romantic relationship. You need to set the standard. That doesn't mean that it's okay for you to date a slut and try to change her ways, because she could drag you down. Part of being a spiritual leader is to recognize what kind of girl you need to be with. In Daniel 1, Daniel set the standard before time. When his values were tested, he stuck by with what he believed in. You are to be a Daniel. Girls should be also, but guys, it's time to step up to the plate. It's so awesome when a man of God steps up as a leader and says, "You know, sexual purity is something that needs to be discussed." Guys, you know how you're wired. You know that skimpy clothes turn you on. Yes, it's a girl's responsibility to dress modestly. However, not all girls realize just how important it is. Guys, you need to be the voice of purity. Guys, I know you are all very visual, and in relationships you like the physical aspect. For some of you guys, you may even need to totally refrain from dating. Or if you do date, you may need to totally refrain from anything physical, minus holding hands and brief hugs. Hey, if that's too much, you may have to refrain from that as well! Don't put yourself in any tempting situations. Avoid parking a car in the dark when its just you and your girlfriend. Never stay in a house alone with just you and your girlfriend. Take some time and seek God's will in the standards you need to set to help you remain sexually pure. Make a covenant like Job did: "I made a covenant with my eyes not to look lustfully at a girl." (Job 31:1)
