Since the day you told me goodbye
I have left my pager on every night
All night long
Having to replace the batteries every two days.
I wanted instantaneous notification
If you were moved to put some message in.
Hourly,
I checked for any arrangement of numbers
That night make sense for you and I,
Wistfully wishing for an electronic hand holding.
I keep thinking you'd miss
Our constant communiqués.
I think there is nothing sadder
Than calling your own pager
To make certain it still works.
I believe a little Time has fallen off my life
During these days.

I miss us, Dano.
